Wisconsin winter, in earnest

I had hoped I would be writing fishing reports and posting pics of the beautiful Wisconsin waterscapes. However, I am posting for the third week now and I don’t have any time logged on the water to serve as the foundation for any fish stories true or, as they would say in the movies, ‘based on actual events’. I try to be a highly credible fisherman and tell only mildly exaggerated fish stories, if not stories wholly based in fact. Whether anyone reads these or not, I fully intend to push on. If there is even one troop out there from Wisconsin that gets a needed taste of home from the pictures or from my blathering, then it was worth the time. The theme has been about what I imagine I would miss most. This week we got our first tastes of winter weather. A wet drizzly snow this weekend and a real interstate-choker on Tuesday. It is easy to miss the beauty of a good snowfall when your commute takes twice as long as normal. But, once the driveway is shoveled and feeling has returned to fingers and toes, I look out the window and enjoy another of nature’s most beautiful shows. I think I would miss the snow, even the shoveling, if I were away. Some troops in northern Afghanistan probably experience snow in the mountains, but I can’t imagine that it is better anywhere else. I snapped off a couple dozen pictures for you. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to get out and really find some great shots, but I have a couple not-so-good ones which I hope will serve the purpose. Hopefully I can report on a fishin’ mission next week. Until then, Godspeed in your mission and hope to see you home safe, soon. Thank you!

Very nice photos, even though I of course HATE the snow! Keep posting 'laker'...I'm sure they're reading over there and enjoying. Also, I would encourage you to take a couple of minutes to sign in and let 'laker' know you're looking from afar!
