One-on-one with Neon Trees at Summerfest
MILWAUKEE -Their hooks are catchy. Their fashion style - as bold as their name.
“I would say we like draw from the 'Pee-wee's Playhouse vibe,'” said Tyler Glenn.
The pop-rock group is making its fourth appearance at Summerfest and for lead singer Tyler Glenn, it was his first time at the big gig he cherishes most.
“We had just put out our album and there was a big crowd for us and they were singing songs that they should not know yet. I remember sitting in this room calling my mom, tearing up saying 'they loved us.'"
The band’s latest album, Pop Psychology, is already blowing up the music charts.
“It’s a lot about identiy, and me trying to find that."
And he's proud to say writing this album helped him do just that.
“Tyler came out as a gay man, and he is searching for love in the 21st century “
Tyler admits the band has gone through some difficult times, but now everyone is in a good place.
“It’s been 5 years and i don't know where the times been and it’s awesome.”
