State Fair Trivia
Did you know that it takes 14,000 gallons of fresh whipping cream and 200,000 large eggs to make all of the cream puffs that are served at the State Fair?
The firs State Fair was held in 1851 in Janesville. The next year it moved to Milwaukee.
Cream puffs have been part of the State Fair since 1924, when the Wisconsin Bakers Association introduced their special recipe.
If you have a hankerin' for cream puffs, but don't want to go into the Fair for them, you can get them "to go" every day from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the drive through at the original cream puff pavilion. You must order them 24 hours in advance, though. Call (414) 266-7111 to place your order. The cream puff drive through is located outside of Gate 6.
