Usain is Insane

Jamaica's Bolt the Fastest Man Alive...Still

By Greg Matzek

Not sure if you've been paying attention to the world of track and field, but the track is a blazin' with Jamaica's lightning Bolt.  One year after lighting the track on fire in Beijing, Bolt has come back to better his world records in the 100 and 200 meter dashes at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany. If you've watched either race, you're no doubt aware that what Usain Bolt has done is positively ridiculous.

I'm not sure the average sports fan can comprehend exactly how outrageous his world record performances in the 100 and 200 are.

Both are short races where anything over .08 is considered a sizeable margin of victory...Bolt beat his own world records in each race by .11.  Furthermore, Bolt won the 200 in a spine-tingling 19.19 seconds, .62 seconds ahead of the silver medalist. In other words, he made the best in the world look like a bunch of 8th graders. For more perspective, recall when Michael Johnson won the 200 at the Atlanta Olympics. Johnson set a world record in running 19.32 and  gave the world goosebumps with every powerful, rhythmic stride...even the other competitors in the race marveled at his achievement. Bolt's 19.19 would have blown the doors off Johnson.

The scary part:  I still think the 400m will end up being his best race.

The guy is absolutely incredible and in my mind, just getting started.
