DAN: The Stupid TaxBy Dan O'DonnellSome call the state lottery "The stupid tax;" the thinking being that no thinking person plays it because the odds are so long. The NBA Draft Lottery, too, punishes stupidity.
ESPN's Chad Ford calls the Bucks a team that "doesn't deserve to win" the top pick since they passed on Jason Kidd and Grant Hill to take Glenn Robinson in 1994 and in 2005 passed on Chris Paul and Deron Williams to select Andrew Bogut.
Is there a stupid tax on stupid cracks? If so, Chad Ford had better open his checkbook. Lotteries don't reward those who deserve it most, they typically reward those who play them most.
Think about it. When is the last time you didn't see a Mega Double Lotto Jackpot winner from Appalachia who didn't play for at least a decade before winning? Winners are never first-time players, they're always lifers.
So maybe there's hope for the Bucks after all.
