DAN: Blown AwayBy Dan O'DonnellIt was bound to happen--Eric Gagne blows a save and the Brewers lose a heartbreaker in Cincinnati. For those scoring at home, this was Gagne's third blown save (most in the National League) in his ninth opportunity. If only the Brewers' hitters had a .333 average.
Granted, it's far too early to push the panic button, but Gagne is showing the same lack of control and an effective out pitch that he displayed in Boston. What's worse, he ruined an electric debut for Yovani Gallardo and spoiled the Brewers' chance to head home to capitalize on a four game winning streak.
With a bullpen full of capable arms, Yost needs to give serious thought to how much longer he can go back to a closer who's looked dangerously closer to Derrick Turnbow than Francisco Cordero. Most Popular |
