DAN: Road WarriorsBy Dan O'DonnellI know it's far too early to pass judgement, but I can't help but be encouraged by the Brewers' second straight road series victory. Since they only had nine all of last season, I see progress.
What's not to love? Weeks hit another one out, Hart had a career-high four hits, Kapler is playing like an all-star, and Eric Gagne converted the save without giving me an irregular heartbeat.
After four series, the Crew is 4-2 at home and, more importantly, 4-2 on the road. It may be too early to get excited, but for a team that finished with an abysmal 32-49 road record last year, this is significant early-season progress, especially since the two teams they've beaten--New York and Chicago--are the overwhelming favorites to win their respective divisions.
As the Cincinnati series proved, the Brewers are still a work in progress, but neither Rome nor division winners have ever been built in a day, and winning away from Miller Park is an important step toward building a contender. Most Popular |
