DAN: The Crazies Doth Protest Too Much

The poor Chinese--first their best-selling "Mr. Leady's Fantabulously Delicious Lead-Based Toy" brand gets banned in the U.S. and now their Olympic torch can't even make it through the streets of San Francisco without massive protests.  Watching the wall-to-wall coverage on CNN, I couldn't help but remark, "Wow, I thought they only covered Iraq War protests."

 

Seriously, though, was this really the time and place to make a political statement?  I hate China's human rights record as much as anyone, but I believe in respecting the tradition and sanctity of the Olympic Games, no matter where they're held.  Except maybe Gary, Indiana.
