DAN: Trouble Brewing?

By Dan O'Donnell

On Sunday, Prince Fielder, along with a number of other Brewers, had his contract renewed, but today he's upset that it was for just $670,000.

“I’m not happy about it at all,” he told the Associated Press. “The fact I’ve had to be renewed two years in a row, I’m not happy about it because there’s a lot of guys who have the same amount of time that I do who have done a lot less and are getting paid a lot more."

“But my time is going to come. It’s going to come quick, too.”

Darn tootin'.  He's eligible for arbitration after this season and, with the $10 million awarded Ryan Howard, he's likely to clean up.

But should he really be complaining?  Predictably, the liberal website Salon.com doesn't think so

The Crew also renewed NL Rookie of the Year Ryan Braun at $455,000.  Obviously, both of these guys are underpaid, but they will get the salaries they deserve the second they hit free agency.
