JEFF: Season Saver?By Jeff FalconioMichael Redd's hand-in-the-face-there's-no-way-it's-going-in game winner against Cleveland is symbolic of the 2007-2008 Bucks season. It's not pretty and just when you think there's no chance the Bucks pull one out. We've seen this before. Remember when Redd was out with an injury in January and the Bucks clawed together three straight wins? How about that five game winning streak in November after a brutal start to the season? Now the Bucks are Redd-hot after dispatching the Cavs, Detroit and Western contender Denver. So once again the Bucks are within striking range of the last playoff spot.
Over the weekend we spent time on the show discussing the future and direction of this franchise. Will a second half surge breathe some life into a listless team? It only takes a pulse to compete in the East but if it only takes 38 wins to make the playoffs, is it worth it? It's appears the East is a three-way race between Boston, Detroit, and new-look Cleveland. Making the playoffs as the eight seed only delays the inevitable. All signs point to an offseason of change within the organization. Will a playoff appearance put a little validation into what the current regime is trying to piece together? In the eyes of the fans, not likely. What would you rather see, a playoff appearance or a lottery pick? Things are coming together for the Bucks and it'd be nice to cap off a tumultuous season with some bonus basketball. Then again, a fresh start with a high draft pick might be the ticket to salvation for this team. At least for awhile there's a bit of excitement surrounding the Bucks. Will it last long enough to keep the Bucks afloat in a season that sometimes appears to be washed away with the tide? Most Popular |
