DAN: As if Baseball Could Get Any Slower...
By Dan O'Donnell
...MLB's general managers have voted for limited use of instant replay for "boundary calls," which are whether potential home run balls are fair or foul, whether balls go over fences or hit the tops and bounce back, or whether fans interfere with possible homers.
Now the recommendation will be sent to Commissioner Selig's office and, if he approves, will create a detailed proposal that the GMs would vote on at the winter meetings.
In other baseball news, would it surprise anyone that the Brewers were shut out of the National League Gold Glove Awards this year? Anyone? Bueller?
Speaking of postseason awards, what is surprising is Curt Schilling's new Red Sox contract. He apparently gets a $1 million bonus if he gets a single vote for the Cy Young. Nice work if you can get it.
