The Falcon Flying High After Packers Win
By Dan O'Donnell
Falconio's thoughts on the Pack after the first preseason game: "There's no need to get ahead of ourselves but you've got to be impressed with the Packers first preseason performance. I am in no way saying it will be 23-0 season for the Packers this year but I saw a lot of good things tonight against Pittsburgh.
I blogged earlier about two rookies on the offensive side and sure enough Brandon Jackson and James Jones delivered. Jones registered a team-high six catches while Jackson ran for 57 yards and got better as the night went along. Now it can be argued that Jackson did most of his damage against the second-stringers. True, but the thing I've learned about the preseason is if your first teamers are struggling against the opposing team's backups, you're in trouble. Obviously that's not the case for Jackson.
Defensively I liked what the front four was able to do. They gave up a few big runs but for the most part contained a pretty strong Pittsburgh ground attack albeit without Willie Parker. Furthermore there was plenty of pressure throughout the night and that should be cause for optimism for the front four throughout the rest of August."
