Yi-normous Progress or Yi-normous Waste of Time?
By Dan O'Donnell
Color me skeptical, but I just don't think China's top basketball official coming stateside will end the standoff between the Bucks and Yi Jianlian's handlers.
Unless he brings about 20,000 of his countrymen to come live in Milwaukee, I still don't see the Chinese government and Team Yi wanting their guy playing for an organization they wouldn't even invite to a workout. If that's not an ominous sign, I don't know what is.
Then again, if he wants to play in the NBA, Yi essentially has no other option. Sit out for a year? Yeah, right. Near as anyone can guess the guy's already 43 years old. A year off might kill his chances of ever being the next Yao Ming. Heck, a long enough holdout and he'll be the next Wang Zhizhi.
