The Baseball Equivalent to a Kick in the GroinBy Dan O'DonnellGive me a second here....whooo....aaahhh.....this one hurt. Cardinals 7, Brewers 6 on an RBI single from Ryan Ludwick, who, near as anyone can tell, was the Cardinals' clubhouse attendant last season.
A couple of things to note about today's first game of the day-night doubleheader: 5 of St. Louis' 7 runs came with two outs. This was Cordero's 5th blown save of the season, and all five have come on the road. In fact, his ERA in Miller Park this season is 0.33, and his ERA away from the friendly confines is a positively Balfour-esque 8.62. I blame the starchy sheets at the Brewers' hotels. Damn you, Days Inn!
Seriously, though, games like this are why Ernie Banks (about the only Cub I can stomach) said "Let's play two!" Play a second the Crew shall, and they'll play it against the 0-10 Anthony Reyes. Keep those fingers crossed, and let's go Reds! |
