Columnist suggests Attanasio as possible candidate to replace Selig
Will the Milwaukee Brewers ownership role become a pipeline for the job of Major League Baseball commissioner?
After the announced impending retirement of Bud Selig, many names are being thrown around for the job.
One of them, suggested by USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale, currently holds the job of Milwaukee Brewers owner - the same job Selig had before becoming full-time MLB commissioner: Mark Attanasio.
"He was Wendy Selig’s handpicked choice to purchase the Brewers from the Selig family and is in constant contact with Bud Selig," writes Nightengale.
"Trusted by his peers, he’s on five high-powered committees. It would be a little peculiar to have back-to-back former Brewers owners become commissioner, but if any owner takes over, it will be Attanasio. The biggest question would be if he’s interested."
So far, there has been no word from Attanasio about any interest in the job.
