Mets blast Brewers in slugfest
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers got a weekend at home before the All-Star break, but the Mets loaded up on Brewers pitching and feasted on Milwaukee's home cooking.
The Mets scored seven runs in the first four innings en route to a 12-5 win.
The Brewers assisted New York with three errors in the game, but the Mets also created three extra-base hits of their own.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a double and triple on a 4-4 night with 5 RBI and three runs scored.
Milwaukee's Carlos Gomez went 4-5 with two RBI and a catch that saved a home run.
The Brewers face an old teammate Saturday night when Yovani Gallardo goes to the mound against former Brewer Shawn Marcum.
