MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke says he's OK after he went to an emergency room in Chicago following a series of back problems.
Newsradio 620 WTMJ called Roenicke for his regular "Brewers 360" appearance Tuesday morning.
His wife told us that his back "froze up" on him while he was in his hotel room at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Roenicke then exclusively told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jon Byman why he had to go to the hospital.
"My back's been bothering me a little bit. Last night, when I tried to go to sleep, it got bad, and I couldn't sleep at all. I called our physicians. They came up and got me over here to the hospital," said Roenicke.
"Everything's fine. It's just the back. Once in a while, my back gets a little squirly."
Roenicke said he plans to coach tonight's Brewers-Cubs game at Wrigley Field. You can hear it at 6:30 p.m. on Newsradio 620 WTMJ.
"I'm sure I'll be fine," said Roenicke.
Roenicke commented on how his injury is the team's latest after a series of them which decmiated the Brewers lineup. Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez, Corey Hart and Mat Gamel are all among a litany of injuries that have affected the team.
"I know we've had a few. Hopefully, we get that worked out."
