MILWAUKEE - Brewers General Manager, Doug Melvin may not be into math, but he fully understands that the Brewers magic number is shrinking with thirty games remaining on the regular season schedule.

Speaking on Wisconsin's Morning News, Melvin said, "I'm not a big believer that math works in baseball, but those 6 games against the Cardinals are real key."

The Brewers own a 10 game advantage over the St. Louis Cardinals who will visit Miller Park for a three game series beginning August 30th.

Melvin hopes to have the services of center fielder Carlos Gomez and second baseman Rickie Weeks shortly after the Cardinals leave town. Melvin is hopeful Gomez can begin a rehab assignment in the next couple of weeks, and Weeks is, "making a lot of progress" according to Melvin.
