Packers vs. 49ers; 1st Quarter Analysis

By Bill Michaels

The Packers were able to run the football against the 49ers (Grant = 8 carries for 54 yards). The problem has been the red zone for the Packers. 2 trips deep into San Francisco territory has only led to two Mason Crosby Field goals. The 2nd trip into the red zone got off to a rough start with a delay of game penalty. That seemed to take the wind out of the Packers sails.

Defensively, the Packers gave up a 42 yard scamper to Frank Gore but that was about it. That Gore run took the 49ers into Packers territory but the Packers D held on a 3rd and inches. San Francisco had to settle for a Joe Nedney 46 yard field goal and after 1 quarter the Packers lead 6 – 3.

Pickett and Raji playing solid. Woodson is Woodson and Aaron Kampman getting a sack in his return.

Ryan Grant’s getting into a lather as well. T.J. Lang has replaced Taucher.

More at the half.
