Favre Update - Childress Speaks

By Bill Michaels

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota coach Brad Childress says he never set a deadline of this week for Brett Favre to decide whether to play for the Vikings.

Childress called local sports radio station KFAN on his way to work Wednesday. He wouldn't confirm if the team will continue to pursue Favre this summer, but acknowledged he's eager to see what Favre has "left in that can" following recent reported surgery on his throwing arm.

Childress also said he's spoken with quarterbacks Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels about the situation and that he's not concerned the Favre saga will distract them. The Vikings have a handful of offseason practices scheduled over the next week, their last organized activities until training camp.

Frank - Favre is not innocent. "All he did" was quit then waffle about it then finally said "no I am not coming back". The Packers moved on. Why should they have disrupted the team because of Favre yet again changing his mind? When is enough enough? The Packers did the right thing - sadly it is Favre who cannot make up his mind other than to "payback" his old team for something that was Favre's own fault. Look at it logically.

I don't post for attention I post because I think all of you need to hear the truth of the situation. All of you including Bill Michaels are talking bad about a guy who did nothing but play his heart out for the Packers. I agree that by him being indecisive it does get old but we all know that if TT would have been a real man and let him play for the Vikings in the first place none of this would be going on.

Jeff I am so sick of seeing you on this blog you need to get over it!! You are so bitter at Favre and you have no right to be because he got driven out of town by Ted Thompson and his companion Mike McCarthy. After he wins a super bowl with the Vikings I hope you realize what an amazing athlete he is!! He may have had a rough end of the season last year but guess what Jeff Rodgers didn't go to the playoffs and he had the exact same players!!

He knows exactly how Favre is doing. They talked last year (illegally) and are constantly talking now. The Packers are looking to the future. Favre is looking to his past glory. Too bad neither Favre or the Vikings know how to be honest.

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt. We all know how the Favre drama was not a distraction in Green Bay or New York and how well that all worked out. Enjoy the ride Vikings and Minnesota. Better them than us.
