BRETT, PACKERS = MOVE ON
Two words for the latest situation with Brett......WHO CARES!
As much as I was disappointed and lost a fair amount of respect for Brett and how he handled things this off-season, I feel this latest segment of his soap-opera is "much ado about nothing." I find it hard to believe that there has never been a player who has left one team and gone on to play for another who hasn't "shared information" about certain tendencies and quirks of their former team. IF Brett did share the "family secrets, " I am sure he is not the first, nor will he be the last professional athlete to do so. And if he did share secrets, he did a very bad job of it, seeing as the Packers won that game. Come on people, let's move on! He made his decision, Green Bay made theirs. We are long past the point of no return, so why even go there.

MOTIVE FOR BRETT, MALICIOUS
Hi
Listened to your show tonight-if Brett talks to another team other than the Jets about how to play against the Packers, what other motive could there be except being malicous?
Pam from Oostburg
IS THERE A CONSPIRACY AGAINST BRETT?
Bill,
I've stayed away from listening to sports talk until today. I took some time to think this over before finally listening. I believe you nailed this. Players, coaches and owners all talk. Maybe this is news to Packer fans in this state.
The one question I have is this; Who is the source that notified Glazer about this????
As I sit back and ponder this, I wonder who is the one who benefits the most? Favre would'nt leak this obviously. Why would Millen leak this? He's no longer in the NFL and millions of dollars richer for it. The one that keeps coming to the front when I think of it is Ted Thompson.
Both Brett and Ted dislike each other and this news makes Brett look bad to the fans that reside in Packer nation. Since he left, all the news about him has made him look bad. Brett's likeability in this state is at an all-time low.
Could this be another shot from the Packers to the sinking ship known as Brett Favre?
I think this since the story came out the week that the Packers have a bye and the story can go on until they play their next game........how convenient...
I have'nt heard this angle yet, just thought I'd throw it out there.
Let's get back to sports.......PLEASE!

WHY WASN'T MELVIN FIRED?
Unit,
I believe Attanasio should have fired Melvin...looking back on who performed...free agents vs. developed players...Melvin not only under performed but hung a bunch of big salaries on the team that cannot afford mistakes.......and mortgaged the Brewers future with some of those salaries by getting rid of the new upcoming talent.
Give the GM to the guy that brought the young guys into the organization...fire Melvin and bring Sveum back. I think Melvin's criteria for a new manager and his list of candidates speaks volumes about his competency...NOT ONE OF THESE CANDIDATES IS PRESENTLY MANAGING...IS THAT SUCCESS??
By the way, Matt Millen was also a sportscaster!

BRETT, WHO CARES
Who Cares if Favre told the Lions what the Packers were going to do? .. I think you could tell the Lions exactly what plays the Packers .. or for that matter .. any team .. were going to call, when they were going to call them .. where they were going to run'em at, and the Lions still couldn't stop 'em. The Lions are just that Bad.
Your Buddy, Woody
DISAPPOINTED IN BRETT
Bill
Not suprising that this happened, given the lack of maturity that Brett has displayed over the last 3 years.
GREAT QB NOT Great Man.
When Erv died, Brett lost his rudder.
He is lost.
Take the MIC from Brett - Give him a Football. Everyone will be better off.
Thanks
Joe
WHAT WOULD THEY SAY ABOUT BRETT?
Unit,
Payton Manning gave up a 99 and 62 yard interception? What would Packer fans be saying, if that was Brett Favre? Payton Manning is one of the best. The best are going to get their share of interceptions. They go for it, because they can.
Are Indy fans saying, "Payton is too old? Payton throws too many interceptions. Payton lost another game."
The real test will come when Aaron Rogers gets his team into the end zone in the red zone. He can pass for it and get a 99 yard interception. Or, he can play it safe and kick a field goal.
Hopefully Aaron Rogers can get his arm healthy again. I sure hope he doesn't hurt his arm for the rest of his career, because he is trying to prove he is Brett Favre or as tough as Brett Favre. I wouldn't have played Rogers until his throwing arm was healthy. If I had to sign Rogers to a long year contract, right now, I wouldn't do it. He has a hurt arm. I don't think the Packers are thinking about his long term future. They are out to prove they can do it without Favre.
In the second half of the season Rogers is going to need to throw a 20 plus yard pass more than once a game. He may need to throw a 4th and 26 pass when it counts in the last two minutes. He will need to get the team into the end zone in the red zone and not just settle for field goals by playing it safe. The greatness of the great quarterbacks comes out in the red zone and in the last two minutes of a half or game.

BRETT AND MILLEN, WHO CARES
Bill:
Re: the Brett Farve thing. What can Farve tell the Lions (and other NFL teams) that they don’t already know? The Lions play the Packers twice a year (and have for more than 75 years) not to mention all the players that have gone from Green Bay to Detroit and available film etc.
Best regards,

Scott

FOOTBALL THOUGHTS
Bill,

1. Did you know that with about 4:41 left in the game, manning had 160 yds passing;
Packer interception return yardage was 161 yards. That's winning football.
2. How could the Bears wear orange jerseys, and still be called Monsters of the Midway?
They looked like wusses. Maybe Monsters of Hallowe'en.
3. Is Peyton Manning the biggest complainer to the refs in the NFL?
4. I wish I could recall, but there was a penalty near the end of the first half, I think against the Colts, that I absolutely didn't understand. It was unusual. dumb question, but I believe you may have felt it strange also. Can you recall, and explain?
Bill

BIELEMA HAS TO GO
Unit,
Bielema needs to go, from the beginning of his tenure I knew the Badgers will eventually implode (i.e lost to Iowa ) Never really liked him as a coach and it was Barry's fatal mistake. Yes, Brett was good his first couple seasons but that was because he inherited the Alveraez regime.
This season is shot. Losing record and no bowl game.
See ya,
Dan

Keep supporting that idiot Thompson could of had Tony Gonzalez but not for Teddy

RODGERS ISN'T THAT GOOD
Unit,
Rodgers movement in the pocket is horrible. Brett could move and buy time. Rodger's feels the pressure way more than Brett. I'm not talking about running ability, I'm talking about the ability to get the pass off without feeling pressure to the point where Brett could find #'s two and three reads. Rodgers cannot do this. He is fearful in the pocket. Hope you have the ability to see these faults. I will e-mail at a different time and be more thorough.

Ron

FIRE BIELEMA, ARE YOU KIDDING?
Bill:
I can't believe what I'm hearing tonight on your show. There's no way Brett Bielema should be fired nor should it even be considered. These people that are calling for his head are not fans in my opinion. I clearly remember some blowout losses at Camp Randall during the Alvarez era; Colorado for one, and Indiana for another. I don't remember hearing that Barry should be fired after those losses and the Badgers were exposed very clearly for what they were then. There were some very iffy years under Barry as well. Also, just a few years ago, Penn State looked like they were in a state of free fall and now look at them. I guess it's a good thing they didn't fire Paterno and his staff, huh? I don't think this issue should even be addresses after the season is over. Maybe at the end of next season, if things get worse. I could go on and on but I'm too upset with these non-fans right now. Thanks for your time.

GRADE THE BREWERS
Hey Unit,
Just curious as to what grade you would give the Brewers for this year. I thought Tom Haudricourt was pretty much spot on in his assessment in the paper this morning. What are your thoughts
Looking forward to seeing you next Monday at the Charcoal Grill. Nice to see your coming up to my neck of the woods.
And as per my usual closing I must make something new your fault besides El-Nino, global warming, Ned Yost being fired, and the collapse of the economy. Today it was reported that Brooke Hogan turned down an offer to appear in Playboy. ALL YOUR FAULT!
Peace out and see you next week,
Czar in Fredonia
THE BREWERS NEED TO ACT BIG-TIME
Bill my ideas on the brewers pitching:
C. C. – would be nice to keep, but not sure a six year contract for the brewers is in the making. What the Brewers need to do is the “Silent Auction” treatment. Offer him a $20 million three year deal, and hope someone else comes up with a better offer. The Brewers can save face by at least stating they made him an offer, but just could not match who ever gets him.
Sheets – Good Bye, let him go. The way he started the year, I thought he would make it to the end of the season. I don’t think he made it through any year without some type of injury. He is a waste of money.
The rest of the pitching staff—the pen amazed me in the playoffs, why didn’t they pitch like that all year. I was hoping they would use Gagne as the closer in the playoffs, he was hired for that job, fell on his face early, but came around at the end of the year. I was real concerned every time Torres came in, he is not the closer. I would try to keep Gagne another year, but would not kill myself to keep him.
Dale Burlington, WI
ARE THE PACKERS HURTING RODGERS?
I have a concern that the Packers continuing to use a not 100 percent Rodgers will eventually ruin his arm and his career. There looks as though there is no soloution to repair the offensive line, the defensive line, or the defensive backfield for this season, so don't destroy our quarterback for the future.

OFF SEASON BREWERS BREAKDOWN
Hey Unit-
It was a fun year, but the loss did hurt even more as you never know when the Brewers will get back to the playoffs.
What are your thoughts on the potential off-season moves the club will consider? Is there any minute, remote chance that the Brewers will come up with the $140+ million for CC???
I'm sure that in addition to Sveum, that Yount and Molitor will come up in the discussion of next year's manager. Will Cecil Cooper be a candidate to manage after getting passed over in '03? I would guess that Yost got the job over Cooper back then only based on his enthusiasm. Did Cooper not deserve the job just from being the 3rd best player in team history? Did his low-key personality cost him the job? I know things fell apart for the Astros at the end, but Cooper wasn't at fault, what with Ike and the injuries he had to deal with.
Any truth to the rumors that Fielder may be shipped out due to his attitude, his evil agent
and head-strong wife? Even including the old minor league Milwaukee Brewers, he has to be the worst fielding first baseman in Milwaukee professional baseball history. It was a minor miracle for him to scoup a low throw out of the dirt - Cooper could have taught him how to play the position. How many hits did Cooper take away from opposing hitters and errors for his infielders with his stretches and scoups at first?
Will Weeks ever approach his vast potential - potential meaning that he hasn't done it yet? We were told that he would lead the league in batting when he was drafted in '03. It seems that he showed a quicker bat in '05 then he did this year. We only see flashes - a line drive home run here, an athletic play there. Do draftable baseball players take an intelligence test similar to the Wonderlic? How good was the pitching he faced while he was at Southern U? The defense he showed in '05 was the stiffest and worst I have seen since at any position since Kevin Reimer played left here in '93. His error totals every year have been artificially kept lower due to numerous borderline plays being scored as hits.
How much of a liability will Hall and Suppan be the next two years? I can't imagine that anyone would trade for them unless the Brewers paid their salaries. I'm not saying this necessarily about them, but when you sign for $24-42 million, do you lose a little bit of your edge and relax a little bit?
And I hate to suggest it, but when a pitcher has one year in '04 stand out when he throws consistently 2-4 mph higher that he did in any other year, you have to wonder what Sheets was taking and whether it contributed to his goofy injuries. I know that he has a flaky personality - giving an interview in the locker room wearing a Saints helmet - and he's not trying to be hurt, but I thought it was a bad move to give him the $38 mil after one good year. His Olympic teammate Roy Oswalt would have deserved it but not him.
And that's the sad part when we see how much the power numbers are down, we have to wonder how many players since '93 have been on the juice. Everyone who has had his homer totals decrease drastically has to be suspected, fairly or not. Or pitchers who don't throw as hard. I would like to read your take on the plunge in the power numbers and pitchers not throwing as hard. We have two full years of stats to look at.
Anyway, that was more negative than what I intended, but I got frustrated as i was writing. I paused to think that even football players don't conduct interviews with their helmets on.

CALLING ALL FANS, LEAVE IT IN THE PARKING LOT

Bill
No matter how this season ends, I don't want the fans leaving a sour taste in the player's mouths. There is a more fan frustration pent up than the throwing of the remote or the screaming at a T.V. can satisfy. I would like the fans to leave it in the parking lot Tuesday before the final series begins. Therefore, I propose that at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, that all fans let it out! Scream, vent, beep your horn, but let it go! (Venting is limited to 30 seconds) Any repressed anger...let it go! Vent at the manager you always vented at before, at the lack of a closer this month, at the lack of clutch hitting ALL season, at errors being capitalized on by the opposition, at no grand slams, at nagging injuries, at nearly no baseball luck this month, you name it, just let it out! Then when you get inside the ballpark and Gagne enters the game-cheer your hearts out because you left it in the parking lot. Or when runners are left on 1st and 3rd again this season, just sit quietly because you left it in the parking lot. Let's make this final homestand a positive one.

I'm a die-hard fan who is sick of the slump and pouting that comes with it. Why not have FUN at practice. Have batters and pitchers hit and throw with the opposite hands (could help undo bad habits) GO BOWLING!!!! (Also with opposite hands) try it and SMILE

MILWAUKEE BREWERS MEET WIKIPEDIA

The Milwaukee Brewers are a Major League Baseball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which plays in the Central Division of the National League which chokes when they are contenders for the playoff race late in September.

The Milwaukee Brewers are a

I almost drank the Kool-Aid last month when the Brewers were a certain shoe-in for winning the wildcard, but I still had doubts in the back of my mind judging from past experience.
I take my hat off to Mark Attanasio for trying to do everything he can to turn this club around, but if they don't get into the playoffs again this year, then he'll have some drastic decisions to make in the off season which might include replacing a lot of players and maybe getting a new GM. A new philosophy will have to take place in Milwaukee if next years team understands and plays the fundamentals of baseball and not relying on the long ball.
I moved to Wisconsin in 1996, and besides being a Packer fan I was a hopefull Milwaukee Brewers fan. But every year I've watched the Brewers, year after year, they start off hot, then slump, and then when the playoffs are out of reach they get hot again. But in the last couple of years when they are still contenders in September, with just weeks left in the season, the Brewers choke! There's no other way to describe it, the team seems they can't handle the pressure. And mark my words, if the Brewers find themselves mathematically out of the wildcard race this year, then I bet they'll win most if not all of their remaining games!
26 years and counting...............

Dear Big Unit,
I feel as though I've wasted nearly 6 months with hopeful anticipation, all for naught. The acquisition of CC was such a coup!! Everything seemed to be on the right track. Then Ryan injured his ribs - a bit scarey; not sure he's completely recovered. Then September hit. Then Yost was Toast - YEAH!! I really felt Dale and Robin could spur them on. What are they...4-14? After the first 3 innings last night, I turned them off - I couldn't take the Suppan torture. And Ben Sheets - what a little whiney baby!!! He needs to take a page out of the Brett Favre 'endurance and perserverance play-book'! How many seasons did Brett play with a bad ankle, a tight shoulder, a bad thumb, a sore back....old age???? Yet, he didn't miss a start in 16 years, and counting. Then there's Ben:
Oh, I have a blister, Oh, I have a hang-nail, Oh, I have a groin-pull, Oh, I have a sore shoulder, Oh, I have a bad elbow
I'm surprised we didn't hear:
I've got a hangnail and I can't play. Good riddence Beat-Up Ben

He will not be missed next year - good-bye and good riddence - I feel for the team who will get him - they need an entire medical team at the ready.
And CC...this makes my heart ache. Good money on a fabulous acquistion, completely wasted, and we'll never have him again. He must feel so frustrated that he's come in here and done an incredible job and the offense hasn't been there to back him up - especially when he's not on the mound. I would cringe to see the stat of how many times the Brewers have left the bases loaded this season, with 1 or NO outs, and unable to bring in a run - they have to be at the top of the list; not one Grand Slam all season. At least it seems Prince has found his swing again in the last couple of games - my husband and I were ready to invite him over so we could grill him a few Porterhouse Steaks! (Happy to do it - whatever it takes!) Corey is cold - he's been able to do very little since the All-Star break, defensively, too - a ton of mistakes.
I've been a loyal and devout fan since before "The Kid" put the #19 jersey on. Even if they're able to turn this around in the next week (which, I sincerely doubt), they don't deserve a Wild Card. I can't believe I'm saying this...I think I just became a Cubs fan....they truly deserve to go to the World Series - they've played a heck of a season.
Thanks for reading...love your show!

Hi Bill,
Let me preface this email by saying that I am a devout Badger, Packer and Brewer fan. I am one of the hundreds of students who "poke" opposing hockey goalies on facebook before games, research names of the girlfriends and moms of opposing players so we can be properly educated for heckling, and stay through the end of every football game to support the band in the fifth quarter.
I was heart broken with the rest of the state when Brett left us for New York , but I wholeheartedly support Aaron Rodgers (I refuse to call him A-rod. that just makes us sound as lame as Yankees fans-gag). So, naturally I want Tony Romo to choke this weekend against my Packers; however, I came across this article about Tony Romo and couldn't help but appreciate his Mid-West/Wisconsin upbringing. And naturally be proud to call him a fellow Wisconsin-ite. If you've already been made aware of this article, I apologize for the repetition.

Hi there!
I'm sorry you have to bear the brunt of this e-mail but I just have to write it out how very emotionally spent I am on this Brewers team. I'm a faithful fan but honestly, I have nothing left to give this year. I feel very let down by the owner, GM, coaching staff and players. I hope they finish well but I just can't waste anymore time watching.

Unit,
Today’s game wins the “Worst Game of the Year” award. Base running blunders, closer collapse, lack of execution in extras. This one had it all!
And now the playoffs are REALLY over over. Here’s why. The Cubs’ magic number was 4 coming into today’s game, now it’s 2. Had the Brewers won this game, like SHOULD have happened, it would have remained 4 games. By the time the Cubs play the 4-game series with the Mets, they’ll have absolutely nothing left to play for. Thanks to the All-Star game now ‘meaning something’ (GREAT IDEA, BUD!), the Cubs won’t be competing with the Angels or Rays for home-field advantage. They’ll have the division and best record in the NL all sewn up, leaving them absolutely nothing to play for.
I’m thoroughly disgusted!

Hey Unit,
Let's face it, we will never ever see a playoff game in Milwaukee in our lifetime! After the 4 run debacle in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game after two out, there is simply no excuse for what is happening this September and next year with their two best starters gone, it will be at least 10 more years before they get in.
Please Mr. Attanasio spend some money on good players besides Ryan Braun like a shutdown closer like Frankie Rodriguez that when you get a lead of four runs you are likely assured of winning the game!!

Unit,

I have to admit, I'm truly impressed with Aaron Rodgers. All that I kept thinking yesterday was that if Brett were playing against the Lions, he'd try and win the game all by himself and ultimately he'd throw an interception to seal the Packers fate in Detroit once again. Rodgers, he took what the defense gave him and hasn't even come close to throwing an interception. Favre, in the late game, did exactly what I feared he would, forced a pass just like he did in the NFC Championship game. I hate to say it but it looks like Thompson might have made the right decision. I love Brett but Rodgers is sure exciting to watch and my confidence in him continues to grow. I'm impressed!

Where are all of the Thompson haters now? Rodgers is certainly making him look like a genius. If you compare the numbers, Rodgers has been better than Favre so far this season. A-Rod has won the stats game the last couple of weeks and we saw Favre make the same stupid bonehead mistake in the New England game. If Rodgers keeps playing this way, by the end of the season he’ll have won over every Brett fan and made a whole batch of new Packers fans.
I’m not happy with the way things went down with Brett but you certainly have to respect Thompson, he’s made us into a winner.

LET ME OFF OF THIS ROLLERCOASTER TO NOWHERE
Hi Bill,
I have been a Brewer fan since they came to Milwaukee from Seattle . I am a loyal (not fair weather fan. Last year while they were in 1st place you kept saying "ENJOY THE RIDE" and I did, but in the end my hopes for the playoffs were thrown to the curb.
This year looked so promising, but once again they look awful down the stretch. I am here to announce that I am done "riding". I am jumping off with both feet. I will no longer stick my head out the window and smile and wave at the Brewers. I have put too many miles on the same old car and it is going in the garage. I know the season isn't quite over yet, but for some reason it is just too painful to watch, yet again. I don't know if Ned Yost is the reason or not, I just know I am tired of the same old ride year after year after year.
Thanks for all you do, I enjoy listening

FAITH AND ALTERNATIVES FOR THE CREW
Hey Bill,
Love the show I listen whenever I'm able. I just want to say that I'm so disappointed in the team this September, but I really must mention that I once heard Dan O'Donnell refer to the "Brewer Fan Mentality". I believe that he referred to the fact that as soon as the team falters a little bit, the fans completely turn on them. Booing is so negative and obviously cannot help but only hinder and reinforce negativity. I have studied Metaphysics for almost 20 years now and what the team really needs is 110% of its fan base believing in them and completely supportive. (Have you ever heard of Rupert Sheldrake, morphogenic resonance, the 100th monkey theory? Check it out) THOUGHTS ARE THINGS!! We create our own reality, and all of the poor miserable boo hoo Brewer fans are not helping. Are they causing the downslide? No, but I can promise you that they are not helping. I know what I am talking about. There is too much riding on this. We have Sabathia and Sheets. This team needs to take charge now!
I suggest that from now on at Miller Park , when the fans are displeased, instead of booing, they just keep it to a grumble, mumble or whatever they choose. Boo the other team, boo the umps, but BELIEVE IN, HAVE FAITH IN, AND SUPPORT THIS TEAM COMPLETELY AND NO MORE BOOING. This team has too much talent to fail. (I would love to meet with you in person to elaborate. I have some terriffic ideas and need an in. Can you help me?)
Early in the year when Ryan Braun went on a bit of a rampage, the team went on a tear. When Prince went at Manny in the dugout, they responded with good play and fire. I too must finally speak up about Ned. Does he even have a pulse? I completely understand that he doesn't want to behave like Lou Pinella or Ozzie Guillen, but what is wrong with a lilttle movitational fire. What is wrong with raising his voice with passion and energy? Positive ENERGY!
He is just taking this low key thing a little too far. Time is wasting and somebody has to do something! I love the quote from Aaron Rodgers, "either get on board now or shut up". Brewer Nation must believe. I cannot take a repeat collapse like last year. I was at Miller Park for the last Friday game against the Padres, and the crowd was comatose. It was almost like they knew the future and absolutely refused to think positive. This town and these fans need to get a little Metaphysics 101 and create the reality of a World Series victory! This team will respond if the fans really believe. There is no other option!!!
Call me!
Sincerely,
Karen

WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Hey Bill,

I think it's time to put things into perspective and add in a little optimism. The hand of god forced of all things, an NL Central show showdown out of harms way and we get this....Carlos Zambrano, the Cubs, and the Astros sloshing into Miller Park unannounced and decided they were gonna make a little history on our turf. (I smell a goat curse comin on) With the Astros breathin down our playoff hopeful necks and the Cubs kickin up dust in our face, all I can say is, "are we there yet?"
Now comes the optimism. Ever since CC Sabathia was robbed of his no-hitter on Aug. 31 we've seen an 8 inning perfect game and now a no-hitter at Miller Park . They say the universe has a way of course correcting itself and maybe this is a bit of a stretch but maybe this will lift the darkness looming over the Brewers since there winning ways came to a crashing halt after the CC no-hitter robbery. So if this micro-curse has been cleared lets thank those Cubbies the only way we know how....by kicking there butts into the wildcard spot and taking the NL Central once and for all.
Well anyway, somethings gotta happen and I can't bare to watch a Brewers meltdown...so I'm gonna hibernate for a couple of weeks....."Wake Me Up When September Ends."

The good fans and Crew had a bone to be chewed

IT'S TIME FOR NED TO MANAGE
Bill,
This Brewers losing is killing me. This team is not playing play-off worthy ball.
What is with Prince? Against a lefty, he now reminds me of J Jenkins and his pathetic swing. It’s now time to see if Yost can really manage (haven’t seen it lately) – the history of truly exceptional managers is how they handle September – AKA Joe Torre, Francona, Gardenhire, etc. Let’s give Lamb & Durham a shot at giving the team a spark. Even though Kapler struck out to end the game, he at least battles the pitcher. Cory H and Braunie are also pressing

RODGERS, GOOD START BUT A LOT LEFT TO PLAY
Unit,
While Rodgers did have a nice start, it still was only his first couple of starts. I looked at it this way; the Packers saw Jackson for the 4th or 5th time last night. They could game plan for him and had planty of film on him. All Minnesota had on Radgers was pre-season footage and 2/3 of a regular season game against Dallas last year.
The big test for Rodgers will be when he's put a few games under his belt, teams can see more film of him, he starts facing teams for a second or thrid time. I'm not doubting his talent, but I think McCarthy deserves a lot of the credit too; getting Rodgers ready, game planning really well, etc. The guy is an excellent coach. Last night was as much about McCarthy out coaching is rival as anything.
Anyway. It will be a fun season watching the kid grow and the Pack pile up wins.
As for the Brewers, can you say "sliding into the play-offs"….maybe. Holy cow! Time to get you collective heads out of you butt's and start playing some ball….you know, that little white thing the Brewers can't seem to hit, pitch (at least the bull pen lately), pick up, throw, etc. To quote the coach from Bull Durham, they are "a bunch of lollygagers! It's a simple game….YOU HIT THE BALL, YOU THROW THE BALL…YOU CATCH THE BALL!"
Oh well…have a good night Unit. Love the show…
Go Pack!
Go Brewers!
Go Bucky!

BillNo matter how this season ends, I don't want the fans leaving a sour taste in the player's mouths. Let's make this final homestand a positive one.Mark from MuskegoI'm a die-hard fan who is sick of the slump and pouting that comes with it. Why not have FUN at practice. THE WRECK OF THE NED-MUND FITZGERALDNED HAS OPTIONS, WHY DOESN'T HE USE THEM?
Why is Ned Yost such an idiot. He leaves CC Sabathia in the game way to long when he had an option in the bullpen. He also starts Rickie Weeks on a daily basis. I mean Rickie seems to hurt the team more than he helps. He commited the key error in the Brewers loss to the Cubs. He also never seems to get on base. He shows signs of coming alive then lays a goose egg the next game. He misses plays that a good second baseman would handle. Ned has got the option to start Ray Durham, but doesn't. Rays better on defense and offense so why is Ned Yost being so amazing thick headed. I'm just amazed the Brewers have won as many games as they have with a thick headed idiot managing the team and leadoff hitter who never seems to get on base. A leadoff hitter needs to hit a lot better than .224.
Adam, Waukehsa

WHY IS WEEKS PLAYING?

Hey Big Unit- I looked up in AOL sports stats tonight where Rickie Ranks ranks in various categories against the other 2nd basemen for both leagues.

Rickie is dead last for all 2nd basemen in batting average. Ray Durham is stil ranked 5th best.

As far as on base percentage Rickie is 14th, R ay Durham is 2nd.

While I couldn't find is errors to date compared to other 2nd base man. He is better than last year but still pretty bad I would think compared to others.

When we played the Cardinals their 3 lowest hitters averaged .274 We need to get our higher average hitters playing. more frequently.

Replace Cameron with Hart and move Kapler to right.

Replace weeks with Durham .

Keep the competition with Hall and Branyon. One of them should win the job or bring up Gammel.

Catcher get more at batts for Rivera. Kendall looks tired and his average has been dropping for 2 months.

Pitching I would take Bush or McClung over Suppan. right now as a starter. He looks uninspired. Hey trade him to the Bosox for Manny. I guess anyone can peruse the numbers but I believe changes till need to be made to be a chamionship team. GO BREWERS

4-1, IT'S NOW 5-4?

I missed the chance to call driving home today. Here's my thoughts about yesterday's game.

I just crawled on to the beach and made it to our vehicle with my wife sitting and catching some innings. I heard it was 4-1. My neighbor, who plays fantasy baseball, and I have many good discussions and often predict Brewer outcomes. At 4 to 1 I walked past him and said, "I do not care if Yost lets Suppan give up a big inning saving the team for this possible "Statement making" series. It's time for the dominant dog Brewers to pee on the other dog, the Cubs! Anyways, I came back from the bathroom and its 5 to 4 and we just looked at each other. Oh well.

Remember the Cardinals blowing their wad in the first loss of the series last week. That's mainly why they lost all 4 games. I told people last week after that 1st game that they'd be in trouble the rest of the series. I remember Henry Aaron saying he used to give up on a pitch early in a game, swing and miss sometimes, when it didn't matter. He'd get that pitch later in the game when it did count. He said the game matters inthe later innings - that's how you win. Sometimes you give up to gain later in this game. Patience and timing. I do not have any predictions with the Cubs; I hoped 3 games but it may be 2 and 2. Either way the Brewers are where Slesinger and Melvin predicted they'd be 5 years ago. Lat minute thoughts; when is Suppan moving to the pen, I am more confident with Mcclung and Bush, you can't count on 9 from Sabathia every game, and what does Pinella have up his sleeve this year?

IS BRETT TOO OLD TO PLAY IN THE COLD?
Bill,
I never really payed much attention to football until Favre came to town and he has been both exciting and stressful to watch, and as much as I would like to see him back, I think it is time to move on. Not that he can't play at a high level or that he doesn't deserve it because of what he has meant to the franchise, but because when it come down to it, no matter what our record is, I don't think he can be depended on anymore for the big games in January. What I'm referring to is that even if we go 16-0 and we get home field advantage for the championships, Favre will choke in Green Bay....he can not play in cold weather anymore. You hear over and over how good his record is when the temp is below 32 degrees, but over the last several years, he seems to not really be in the game as much as he used to. He seems cold, tired, and almost in a hurry to get back to the sidelines so he can wrap himself in a jacket and get next to the heater and you just need to look at the Bears and Giants games last year to see this. To me, he looked awful in them, nothing like he used to and this seems to be getting worse each year. Sure, he can play extremely well into December, but once outdoors in January, I believe he is the underdog and for this reason I didn't mind seeing him retire and I wonder if the Packers organization may have this on their mind too and want to move on with Aaron...a younger quarterback who can probably handle the cold better should they make it past the regular season. Perhaps I'm mistaken on all this, but I wouldn't mind hearing your opinion on this.

I'VE HEARD ENOUGH, HERE'S MY 2 CENTS, WHERE'S MURPHY?
Bill,

I have listened to and read as much as I can about the whole Brett Favre Fiasco and heres what I think.

1. If Brett had a good agent who was looking out for his client then in March that agent would have said to the packers hey wait a minute Brett will give you his answer when he's ready not when you want him to. Then when Brett got the itch he could have made that decision and came back and no one is the wiser.

2. Brett Favre is a prima donna just like all great players who have been told they are great their entire lives. Ted Thompson is also a prima donna who has an ego just as big if not bigger than Bretts. Thats what makes Favre a great player and Thompson a great GM, But when those egos collide that is where someone (Murphy) has to step in and get the two out of control egos to kiss and make up for the betterment of the TEAM.

3 Neither Thompson or Favre will blink during this ordeal and Mark Murphy needs to earn his pay by putting the two back together again. I don't think this happens under Bob Harlens watch.

4 Bill, I like and respect you, but I disagree with what I'm am hearing as you totally blaming Favre for this. I hope that i am just missing when you are talking about that side of the story. I believe it takes two sides to tango.

Thanks for letting me vent,

Harold

BREWERS EXPECTATIONS vs. THE CUBS, MY EXPECTATIONS
I will not be as disappointed with the Brewers if they lose three out of four to the Cubs, as I was in losing two out of three to Huston. If they want to be a contender they have to beat the teams at the lower end of the standings. They have a good chance of winning this. The Cubs still have nine games to play against St Louis . The Brewers have another six games with the Cubs after this home stand. It will take more then two or three starting pitchers to win this and more then three or four people getting hits.
On another thought, I have tickets to a Cubs – Brewers game in Chicago , they were easier to get. I tried to get tickets on the first day of single game ticket sales, but the seat locations were limited, the ticket price was doubled, the parking fees were higher, the Brewers wanted to add on a fee for each ticket to the parking pass, the Brewers wanted a fee for using the on line service, and they wanted to charge me to print out my own tickets. I decided to let the Cubs fans have Miller Park , and go to Chicago to see a Cubs – Brewers game.

YOST OUT-MANAGED, WEEKS POOR
Hey Unit,
I was at the Brewers game yesterday and still mad, primarily as Yost and Weeks.

What other manager in the bigs, whose pitcher just gave up seven runs in an inning, would BRING HIM BACK OUT AGAIN???!!!!!! Ned said he didn't want to use his best relievers. That is what relievers are for. And McClung didn't look like a "best reliever" yesterday either. That is why Ned is continuously out-managed. Granted, the defense didn't help in the inning, which actually leads me to the second rant. Not only did Weeks fail to GET IN FRONT OF THE BALL on the hit to right, but then twice forgot to cover first on routine plays. Put Durham in and let him show Weeks how the position is supposed to be played and if it hurts Rickie's ego, well too damn bad. Tell him to grow up and learn from it. His defense is horrible. One other comment to Weeks, and Prince: "there's no crying in baseball," so quit whining and pouting, pull your head out of your butt, be a man and go play to the best of your ability. Maybe some pine riding would do them both some good.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Mike in New Holstein

THOMPSON COULD LOOK WORSE PUBLICLY
Bill,
I know you have stated that there are some things “behind the scenes” that outsiders like us fans don’t understand about Brett—the way he’s acting and things that have been said/done. I think Brett has taken a hit to his legacy when looking at the “whole” of this ordeal…however…this latest issue is truly stunning to me that the organization won’t let Brett come in and compete for a position. I completely understand that the Packers have “moved on.” But Rodgers has proven that he is susceptible to injury, why in the world wouldn’t they let him come in as number 2-see how camp goes—continue to work the trade wire –because you know some QB is going down during camp (which allows them to get more in the trade)—hell, worst case scenario it’s Rodgers that goes down... For the first time in this entire saga—I think Brett will win the poll of public opinion. To me, Thompson continues to mismanage this thing in the public eye.
Dominic

BRETT'S NO LONGER A TEAM PLAYER
Mr. Michaels,

I appreciate your views regarding Brett Favre and the Wisconsin Sports Scene.
I know that there are a lot of fans out there that believe Brett can do no wrong but this whole situation is clearly on his shoulders. Because he didn’t get his way, the players and coaches he wanted he’s pissed off at Thompson and wants everybody to be mad at him as well. People need to think about that. The guy who’s always claimed “TEAM FIRST” certainly has become a “ME FIRST” baby. He didn’t get his way so he left, PERIOD! Then, when they called his bluff and said they’ve moved on, Brett sat there and said, “How dare they move on without me” so he’s sabatoging the organization. He’s the ultimate competitor and that’s the reason he can’t realize his ignorance and let it go. Brett retired and this is his fault. He took his ball and went home and when the others kept playing without him, he realized that he made a mistake and now he’s making everyone’s life miserable. Give Aaron Rogers the #4 to wear and screw Favre.

YOU'RE RIGHT ON UNIT
Unit,
I love the show. I went to all three weekend games with the Astros. The conversation stemmed around Brett Favre and this stupid saga. I want you to know that not one of my friends or those around us in the stands wanted to see Brett back in a Packer uniform. We all agreed that it’s a shame that it’s come to this but we all agreed that Brett’s acting like a spoiled baby and the rules don’t apply to him. What about the team and his commitment to the team? Why does the team have to wait for him? He’s not bigger than the team! Screw Favre and his “me first” attitude. It’s time for Aaron to prove himself as a worthy quarterback in the NFL. Favre, while he’s one of the greatest, wore out his welcome as far as we’re concerned.

KISSING THE ORGANIZATION'S BUTT
Unit,
I've heard you whine on the radio about the "hatred" or "anger" that the Favre issue has been bringing out in people. Have you ever heard the saying "If someone calls you a donkey once you should ignore it, but if several hundred people are calling you a donkey in the same week you should put on a saddle"? Maybe you should look in the mirror and stop kissing the Packers' corporate brass donkey and call it like it is...Favre has made some mistakes in this and isn't above criticism, but you are taking the term "spin" to a whole new level...and the term "one-side"...and the term "biased"...and "butt-kisser"....and on and on and on. I was actually a fan of yours, but I'm in complete and utter disbelief over how inaccurate your reports are and how you ignore interview and quotes that even the casual fan has seen. I thought you were a professional, but you seem more like a flunky Packer PR rep. Why don't you bring someone objective on the radio with you for a mediated conversation and see if Favre or Thompson comes out with more egg on their face. You make me sick to my stomach. It's the same feeling you get when someone you thought you could trust totally turns on you. Why don't you go work for the Bears. I would expect such action from their media. You call Favre a liar but you ignore Thompsons lies...you call Favre a waffler or say he waivered and changed his mind, but I haven't heard anything about the Packers' change of heart concerning Brett reporting to camp.
Brian

BRETT, GO AWAY
Here’s my two cents on Brett Favre. He’s done nothing but divide Packers fans and has cared less about anyone but himself. He’s been saying the Packers have lied to him yet no one questions him, with the real questions, about his wavering. His back and forth crap over the last 3 years. Why didn’t he or his mom or his brother say any of this about the organization until is was announced that the Packers had moved on without him.
He made his bed and expected everyone to bow to him and when he didn’t get his way, he cried like a baby. He’s not an idol, he’s a football player who retired and can’t handle life out of the limelight. Go away Brett.

IT'S DEANNA'S FAULT?
My wife just hit the nail on the head. She told him to go back.
She can't stand him around the house anymore with not enough to do.

NOT HATE MAIL?
Hello Bill,
This is not a "hate mail" however, some of your comments are absurd!! You were obviously talkings about listeners, and with the show right now??Specifically your comments about people that don't have a clue?? Having listened to TMJ for close to 45 years you should be careful about what you say!! You have been here for what? 9 years?? Ummm since you have been here, the afternoon shows ratings are going down!! I really don't care whom you interview, or where the " roadshow" is! Be careful whom you are talking to!! If you actually think that you have any credibilty, and if people are are responding to a "blog" that no one can respond to when you dont answer, take a step back and realize you have a certain power that we, as listeners don't have!!
Gary

UNIT, WE PACKERS FANS ARE BEHIND YOU
Unit,
I loved what you said on ESPN. Brett lied to us all. He’s not about the team, he’s about himself and his stupid ramblings on the FOX interview prove it. He never presented any fact other than he wasn’t asked enough to come back and that he still isn’t sure he wants to play. What were the Packers supposed to do? It seems that Brett’s only a good teammate if HE chooses to be or in his mind alone. I applaud your honest voice. I’ve got to tell you, most of my friends feel the same way I do and now you do. I’ve not heard one Packers fan say that they want Brett back no matter what. He’s made his own bed, now he has to lie in it. Irv wouldn’t allow this crap to go on.Keep up the great work.

IS AaRON REALLY THE BEST?
Long time listener and love the show.
As a loyal Packer fan, I don't care if Rex Grossman is behind center as long as he gives the Packers the best chance to win. I have not seen or heard Ted Thompson or Mike McCarthy say that Aaron Rogers gives the Packers the best chance to win the Super Bowl. Have you? I just want the Packers top guys to pick the quarterback they think gives them the best chance to win and not worry about egos or legacies. Go Brewers!!! (I live in northern Illinois and heartily root against the Cubs)

FAVRE OWES ME $$
Hi guys. I enjoy your show – you guys crack me up.
Re: Favre – I say let him come back but only if he pays all of us back for all the stupid Sports Illustrated magazines, jerseys and other “retirement” stuff we bought as a souvenir for our loved ones. It was not easy for me, a huge Chicago Bear fan, to even pick up one of his items in a store let alone carry it to the counter for checkout but I did it because my husband and my mother just love Brett Favre and the Packers. I was trying to do something nice for them from the bottom of my Bear heart. Now it seems that my efforts may have been for nothing so I think Favre owes us our money back J.
Have a good weekend guys.

YOU'RE AN IDIOT
"To Lie; A misrepresentation, an untruth, to bear false witness."
Bill, thank you for the definition of what you did on ESPN. It's just a technicality that you said "perceived" in front of "liar". But since you want to play that card. ......who perceives this? The fans? I am a fan....I DON'T! This makes your definition of "lie" applicable to you. You have not been out amongst the fans ... you only know what you get in response to your blog and show. Most of us dont take the time to voice our opinion. I see you only posted 1 response to your
embarrassment on ESPN. But judging by the fact that you felt it
necessary to respond...you must have had many angry responses.
As far as Brett "lying" Is is a "lie" to change your mind?
He clearly stated he wants to play for the Packers....but if they don't
want him....is it a "lie" to talk to someone who might?
Wake up? Please! You need the wake up call! We're talking about
Brett Farve here....remember last season?!!? Montana , Unitas and Starr
were not at the caliber of Farve at the end of their careers. What a
stupid comparison.....you really are an idiot!

THE BREWERS NEED NATIONAL HELP!
Bill; the crew needs to take a lesson from the packers on how to promote your merchandise nation wide. The fans have proven they will come out if it’s not enough cash to keep your good players you need another way to generate cash. You do not see a lot of brewer stuff for sale even in this state it’s easier to find cub stuff outside Milw. Area. Come on unit most of those disposed packer fans, are most likely brewer fans also. I say lets tap there wallets a bit and keep our team intact.

FAVRE BROUGHT THIS ON HIMSELF
Bill,
I know you've been deluged with e-mails about Brett Favre, however just thought I would make a point that I haven't heard any of your listeners make. First off I will qualify my comments by saying I have been a strong Brett Favre fan, BUT. This mess is all on him. The Packers didn't put this on him, he's put this mess on the Packers. He has completely destroyed his credibility, and to some extent his integrity. I wish more would be said about the yes I will/no I won't game he was playing on Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy. I'm not sure any other team would take the risk with him. First of all there are no guarantees he is going to have another banner year. If things don't go well with a new team, new teammates, new playbook, etc. what's to think he wouldn't retire mid season and leave them high and dry. He just can't be counted on any more. What other line of work would let an employee retire and unretire three or four times. If the Packers give him his release, (which Thompson won't do) I would not fear playing a team with him as the quarterback. You know damn well you can count on him throwing two or three interceptions. Thanks for your time, and it's a good feeling to hear at least the local media looking at this mess objectively and putting the criticism where it belongs, and that's on Favre.
Jerry Waterford, WI.

IT'S ROGERS OPPORTUNITY NOW

IT'S ROGERS OPPORTUNITY NOW

WHEN WILL THE FAVRE LOVEFEST END?
I don't email talkshows and I don't call the radio but I am getting really tired of listening to this Favre love fest. Has Brett Favre been one of the best quarterbacks of the NFL - Yes. Has Brett Favre become one of the best beloved Packers ever - Yes. No one is denying this. Brett Favre has been the face of the Green Bay Packers for a long time. But a few questions I'd like to have answered. Green Bay has been to 2 superbowls under Brett Favre. One they defeated the Patriots and the other they lost to the Denver Broncos. That was eleven years ago. Was Brett in his prime, yes. Has it been fun to watch Brett on Sundays - yes, most of the time. He has won games for them and he has lost games for them. But since the last superbowl they were in, how many games has Brett won in the playoffs? That's the question that people have to ask themselves. What has Brett done in the last eleven years as far as the playoff picture goes? Some people think that if Brett comes back we are a sure bet to get to the superbowl. Now let me see how this works. It's been eleven years since we've been in the superbowl and out of those eleven years, he has made it to the championship game once! Last year. Do we forget that three years ago the team was 4 and 12 and going no where? What has Ted Thompson done for the Green Bay Packers, besides the fact that he has built a young, very good team and put some very good players around Brett Favre. But if you listen to people, it's been Brett Favre going on to the field and facing eleven defensive players all by himself. What happened to the good players that were playing with him and at times making him look good? People tend to forget that Favre doesn't go onto the playing field himself.
All I keep hearing about is about how Brett Favre deserves whatever he wants. Lets look at some of the great players from the Packers. Bart Starr - would he have acted like this? Would Ray Nitschke act like this? Would Reggie White with his remarkable career, have acted like this? Would he have tried to make a fool out of the management of the Green Bay Packers? I don't think so. The man had too much class. It's seems now we are in a dilema. It seems that our favorite son has now turned into nothing more than a spoiled little two-year old brat. It's me, me and me! Everything is about me! If that doesn't sound like a child I'm not sure what does. Since when did he become general manager of the team saying nobody listens to me? I wanted Randy Moss (he said in an interview he would never play for the Green Bay Packers, that was right after he was traded to the Patriots). Why would Brett say in one interview that Randy was not the reason for his retirement then a short time later cry about the fact that he wanted him? Where does he get off telling the general manager who should be the next head coach? Who puts him in the financial situation of running the team to demand to bring Wahl and Rivera back? As you can see, the man is living in the past. Rivera hasn't played football for a while and Wahl would've been a costly addition. Does Brett Favre care about that? No. He just wants his old buddies back because he is comfortable with them.
If you look at Ted Thompson, he has put together a very good young team without Brett Favre's help of recomendations. It's been fun watching Brett Favre play over the years but now comes the time when a one-time outstanding quarterback and good representative of the Packers has become nothing more than someone who is so arrogent and egotistical that the whole team has to revolve around him. It's sad! Brett Favre has been playing this retirement game I'm going to guess since 2003 when Mike Sherman bowed down to Favre and told him you are our guy, you take as much time as you want to think about coming back. I don't know of any other sports franchise that would put up with his crap for so long! My understanding was that when Brett did retire this year, and then changed his mind, the Packers still wanted him back as the starting quarterback. But to no fault of Thompson and McCarthy, you can't blame them for saying enough is enough! The crap that Brett Favre has been spuing has really made him look more like a whiney little child who doesn't know what he wants, he wants to blame everybody else but himself and I am sick of it. Personally, I'm looking forward to Rodgers and if people start getting on his case because things might not go as well for him in some games, I hope they can remember back when Favre started and he had a number of horrible games and people were asking for Makowski to come back. Or have we forgotten those day? Did Favre start his career off as a hall of famer or a kid who was trying to learn the game? I'm really pulling for Aaron Rodgers and I hope he does well. I wish it didn't have to come to this but when Bart Starr retired, there was still the Green Bay Packers. When all the greats from the past retired, there was still the Green Bay Packers. And so it will be with Brett Favre, there will still be the Green Bay Packers!

Thanks for listening,
Blaine

WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE BRETT.....

For anyone who thinks the Packers should just release Favre, I have a better plan:
1. The Packers should announce that they are going to release Favre.
2. They should then change their minds and withdraw the announcement.
3. Later, they should contact Favre and tell him that, after thinking about it some more, they have decided that they will release him if he unretires.
4. When he prepares to file the paperwork with the league, they should get cold feet and rescind the offer.
5. Repeat Steps 1-4 as needed.

I'm a big fan of the show, keep up the awesome work. Go Brewers!

BRETT'S CHARACTER?
I never thought that I would be equating Brett Favre and any character that Richard Gere played. However, this whole situation reminds me of the scene where Louis Gossett (Ted Thompson) was watering down Richard Gere (Brett Favre) until Gere gave up his DOR.
Like Favre, Gere screams "I got now where else to go!"

ROGERS SHOULD NOT STEP ASIDE
Unit,
This saga is ludicrous. I cant even believe people are asking Aaron Rodgers to be the bigger guy and step aside Favre can get his own way. I hope someday Aaron Rodgers doesnt "text" someone and tell them the WORST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO HIM WAS BEING DRAFTED BY THE GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!!!!!! The Packers have decided they will not be held hostage by a DIVA........and they are moving on. Last I looked Favre has had a host of playoff losses......Philly, St Louis, Atlanta, Minnesota and New York........cmon people.. MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!
Tired of the saga,

GO CREW!!!!!!!!!!!

THE PACKERS ARE NOW BIG BUSINESS, NOT HOMETOWN
Bill,
Real Packer fans were there before football became a heartless, big business. That is what distinguishes real Packer fans. They have a heart. It's not all about the love of money for real Packer fans. The love of money is going to bring the downfall of the Green Bay Packers. Then, take Green Bay football to New York . Then, the Packers should have built a doomed stadium, so that their fans could sit in comfort. If you are going to operate the Packers as if it were just a business, then you better have the pocketbook of a George Steinbrenner. Turn the Packer organization into just a business, and football will come to an end in Green Bay . Especially, after Favre, when the Packers are worse than Detroit . As tough as Lombardi was, the players all knew - he cared about them. That's why they played 100% for him! Maybe that's why Favre can't say he'd give 100%? Maybe he doesn't know if the Packers are willing to give 100%? Maybe he wants to play for an organization that will give 100%, even if they lose? If the Packer organization is just going to be a business, I want an organization that will give 100%, and not sit around and count how much profit they made. Oh, we lost, but we have so much money! It's a business! You didn't win! If it is a business, fire Thompson! He has had a few years, with a Hall of Fame quarterback, and he didn't win the way he operated things. I can understand why Favre is mad. That CEO Thompson doesn't give 100%! Look how much he has left in their account. And he lost. He is a loser. Lost a good manager and a great defensive coach. That defensive coach learned, Thompson is a jerk

A QUICK SHOWER AND GETTIN' COCKY

Hey Unit,

Just wanted your thoughts on two things:

1) Did you think Ned Yost's ejection was a bit fast during Wednesday night's game?

2) I may just be seeing things, but did you notice a cocky swagger after Braun hit the game winner last night? I'm as excited as anyone else about the run the crew is making right now, but that just rubbed me the wrong way. Didn't he run into an issue last year for getting a bit cocky? It is only his second year, right? Do we really know the Ryan Braun we're getting with a multi-year contract? If he helps us win, great. I think I could do with a little more humility from a second year player. I could be missing the mark big time on this one.

Let me know your thoughts when you get a second.

Dave

UNIT, RIDE IT OUT MAN!
I know there's the minority of morons out there that don't understand the innerworkings of football but geesh, you'd think that they'd listen and get a clue. Brett's done this crap for 3 years and, instead of thinking of the team and thinking of the possibility of the future, he wants to be treated special and any length of time he needs to make up his mind as to whether or not he'll grace us with his presence for another year. No regard for the draft or Thompson, what about that? Why don't fans get angry about that? It's because he's Brett and Brett can do whatever he wants. That's crap. Lombardi wouldn't have put up with it and I'm glad Thompson didn't either. Good riddence Brett you wavering liar. Unit forever, Favre NEVER!

FUN TO BE A BREWERS FAN
Unit, I have been a faithful Brewers fan since they arrived in Milwaukee in
April, 1970, and I still lived up there. The difference between this season
and last is that last season, there was always a sense of foreboding - sort
of like watching a train wreck in slow motion. This season, it is just fun!
A year's maturity and the veteran presence on the team seem to have made a
real difference. Yes, I am indeed basking and will continue to do so for
however long the ride lasts. Thanks for a great show.

THE BREWERS SUCCESS WON'T LAST
Sorry big unit, i can attest that i am surprised of the Brewers success thus far. But although the brewers are catching up to us.

My cubs have to realize that the brewers are a team that was 14 games ahead of us last year and were sitting at home watching us in the playoffs, so no, no adult diapers for us at this time. But it is nice to have the competition, makes the year more fun. Just remember we might not have won a series in 100 years, but you guys have never won one, and were just celebrating, actually celebrating, just being in the playoff a quarter century ago. That much said, bring the noise next week, if you want some, come get some.
Love your show

BRETT'S NOT THE ALMIGHTY
Unit,
Thank God you make sense when it comes to Favre. The whining minority of Brett lovers is making me want to puke. Brett brought all of this on himself, who’s running the Packers, Ted and the board or Brett. When did Brett become bigger than the Packers? Brett’s used our hearts one too many times and it’s time to go. In addition, all of this talk bout Brett getting us to a Super Bowl, he’s had opportunities and performed poorly with each chance. The Eagles and that lame pass to Javon Walker that was intercepted and ultimately cost the Packers advancement in the post-season, the St. Louis Rams 5 interceptions, the NFC Championship Game vs. the Giants and his ignorance to find an open receiver in crunch time, he can’t win the big game anymore, at least not without Reggie White.
Damon in Mequon

BRETT, STAY RETIRED
My name is Jeff from Waukesha and I’m only 14. My family has been Packer fans our entire lives and my Mom grew up in Green Bay . We've never seen the Packer franchise in this kind of a situation. I remember hearing Brett say after he announced he was retiring that he was going to stay out of Green Bay and do nothing related to the Packers franchise for a complete year. How did he or Ted Thompson get him into this mess? It hasn't been a complete year yet! Brett should stay retired and be back at his house with his tractor. He shouldn't go with another team, he belongs back at his home in Mississippi with his family. Plain and simple.
Sincerely, Jeff

IS THE COMMISH BRETT'S AGENT?
Hey Unit,
Since when does Rodger God work for Brett Favre? Why is he sticking his nose into this situation. Why is Goddell working on behalf of Favre to broker a trade? Favre is under contract with the Green Bay Packers. If they want to pay him and tell him to go home that is their purgative. Why is he telling the Packers to work out a trade? Isn't Goddell suppose to be looking into a tampering charge on behalf of the Packers? I wonder how that is going to turn out! Does Goddell have the power to tell teams what they can do with players they have under contract? Maybe the NFL can become his own personal fantasy league. Seems like Brett Favre has not only become bigger than the Packers but is also bigger than the NFL. Goddell has no business pressuring the Packers to work out a trade.

UNIT, YOU'RE ATTACKING BRETT NATIONALLY
Dear Mr. Michaels,
I write this letter as a packer fan and a Brett Favre fan. I think we all realize the current situation is one that noone thought would be and that is something we cannot change. I happen to see both sides of the story. I believe that Milwaukee and Wisconsin also has mixed feelings. I believe at the end of the day we love Brett and what he did for Wisconsin and the Green Bay organization. I am very alarmed by your attacks on Brett Favre especially the comments made on ESPN. As you spoke to a national audience you talked about how some fans were bringing you Favre's jerseys. Although that may have been true that is the only side of the story you told. There are many fans of the team and of Brett that cannot believe that the Packers would no matter what want him traded and have a uniform on for another team!!!! I think both sides have made mistakes but the end of they day it is still Brett! Sixteen years never missed a game, even when his father passed. Come on!!!! He deserves to be able to change his mind. And I hear he might be traded to Tampa for a QB?? That makes no sense!!! We love Brett. I only ask you show him a bit of respect!
Stacey

SHOW BRETT SOME LOVE
I live in Holland Mi and been a Brett Favre fan ever since the he stepped onto the field and brought us back against the Bengals with the pass the Kirpatrick Taylor and I knew then we had someone very special and it is Favre who brought the packers back into contention and now the Packers are digging self into a hole for not letting Brett back What r they thinking, come on everyone has the right to change their minds Why not Brett? One solution open up ur Arms and let Brett play!!!!
Darth

IT SEEMS EGO'S ARE BIGGER THAN THE PACKERS
Bill,
I have a question to you, is football a sport or a business? Mr... Goodell "of the NFL" can dictate to a team that a player is bigger that the NFL should receive special treatment to go and take his ball and play where he wants? This isn't a sport it's a business and that business can dictate the outcome of a season, then the NFL is nothing but a fixed sport.
Hell Brett has even asked for reinstatement and the NFL is acting for maybe? I have been going to training camp for the last 11 years and spending hundreds of dollars in Green Bay, now I may go closer to home and take in the Rams training camp, I've lost loyalty to a team I have backed for over 35 odd years because ego's have become bigger than the game it self.
Disappointed!!!
Please let me know your thoughts if you have time.
I listen from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00P.M., when I can.
Thanks,
Todd

HEY BRETT, WHY COULDN'T YOU REALLY MAKE UP YOUR MIND?
Isn't it funny that on the playing field, Brett Farve can decide which receiver to throw to in less then 3 seconds yet takes over 7 months to decide whether he wants to retire or not.
Rick

UNIT, YOU HAVE REAL SENSE
Unit...
Listening to you on the Greenhouse here at the top o' the hour...
You hit it right on the head what I've been thinking....
This is the first time in what, 20 years that Favre has had to handle his own PR... and it's clear... he sucks at it.
For 16 years the Packers said: "Brett talk to the media now..." "Brett go to the FOX interview here..." "Brett show up at this event tomorrow..."
Now... he has to figure that all out... and his first attempt? His WIFE sends Greta an email? Brett... love you... but you're killing us.
Don't get offended about Ted Thompson mashing your legacy.. you're doing a great job trashing the hell out of it....

THOMPSON'S BEEN GREAT FOR THE PACKERS
Hey Unit,
Just viewed your cruise pic's, looks like you had some fun in the sun. I have been on two cruises myself, both on Carnival ships. Anyway, Brett Favre should be traded because the future would be spared if he plays for GB because I think we would lose Aaron Rodgers. He had a great career in GB, obviously, but it's time to move on. He made some comments about how he would have preferred a different couch instead of Mike McCarthy and how Thompson blew it when he let Moss sign with NE. Wait a minute here, since when does a player, any player, have the right to tell a team who to pick for a coach and what players to pick in free agency? I think Mr. Favre thinks he's bigger than the team. His ego is too big now. Time to let him go. Don't get me wrong, Favre has made life as a Packer fan great since 1992, which is a long time , but don't tell the team who to choose as coach or what players to pick up. I think Thomson is doing a great job. He let go of a whiny Javon Walker and picked up Greg Jennings with the pick he got from the Broncos for Walker . Not bad, especially since Walker has been trouble for the Broncos and will be for the Raiders. Thompson has drafted two young and, I believe talented, QB's so the future looks good there. He picked the Giants pocket when he acquired Ryan Grant from them for, I believe a 6th round pick. Thomson picked up Charles Woodson in free agency to pare up with Al Harris, they are very good at CB for a couple more years. He let an aging, wounded and ineffective Ahman Green go in free agency and saved the team tons of money by doing so. Nobody should be trashing Ted Thompson at this point. He has made this team better and he has made this team younger. Because of Thomson we will be following a winning team for years to come. Can't wait for the season to start. Thanks for letting me air it out.
Craig

BRETT, STAY AWAY
OK, I've heard enough and now have to say my 2¢.
There's only one question all us Packer faithful need to ask
ourselves...Would you rather see Brett going out decided on the field, or in a
board room? This is a question reserved for a very few players of any sport. Did
we all enjoy watching MJ make an idiot of himself playing for the White Sox??? Does any athlete that has a "cup of coffee" in any sport have to deal with this? No. How about LeRoy Butler. Great player, didn't want to see him go, but it was time. It ended on the field for him - but not before it was too late to do it with dignity. Either way has to be done with dignity, and this isn't cutting it. Not that Brett is going to jump sports, but here's the deal, he's either going out ugly on the field, or ugly in the press/board room. We now know that. Me, I'm for the board room, because of one statement I can't get out
of my head...,Ted Thompson said, "we are about the Green Bay Packers, and Brett Favre and protecting the legacy of both" (paraphrase). 5 years from now, no one will give a rats ass about this if he goes home and hangs it up. If he comes back and craps the bed, it will tarnish an otherwise heroic career.
Leave it alone Brett, find peace in what you've got, and what you've had. It's sad to say, but, it ain't comin' back brother.
Maybe a BUB pole question in the making with some fine tuning from you???
See ya!!!
Michael

SHUT UP BRETT
Unit,
Just one sentence from me;
Brett, shut up and go away, you’re embarrassing yourself and you sound like a whining liar.
