There is no other place in the world where people are more passionate about their football than
Green Bay, Wisconsin
. I understand that the “Brett saga” has polarized everyone from school teachers to doctors, policemen to firemen, stay-at-home moms to jet-set CEO’s. Arguments have broken out in the local watering holes and grocery stores as to who should start at quarterback, who’s at fault, retire or play….you name it.
The one thing that I’ve always promoted to others outside of the Packer Nation was the knowledge of the combined fan base when it came to the understanding of the game and the business of the NFL.
What I witnessed over the weekend and yesterday (Tuesday, August 5th) at training camp, was disheartening and disappointing to say the very least.
At the family night scrimmage…SCRIMMAGE…I actually heard fans boo Aaron Rodgers. Yesterday, I watched and listened as fans chanted “Bring back Brett” every time Rodgers took a snap from center. When Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn took snaps and completed passed, the fans cheered. When Aaron Rodgers completed a pass, they merely stopped chanting for a moment and then resumed, louder, as soon as they saw Rodgers step back under Scotty Wells to take the next snap.

Without wagging my finger and shouting, “shame on you”, I wanted to distribute the criticism to ONLY those who were partaking in the idiocy.
Rodgers hasn’t done anything but act as Brett’s back-up. That’s it. Why take you’re “Brett saga” ire out on Aaron?
You don’t truly know how Rodgers will fare throughout his career but for you mental giants to already damn him to football hell, you’re doing nothing but setting him, and the franchise, up for failure. While there’s nothing wrong with being a passionate fan for Brett Favre, are you a true Packers fan if you’re cheering for the dismal failure of Rodgers. What good comes of that? Are you willing to sacrifice the organization to prove a point? Are you hoping for decades of sub mediocrity just so you can say, “I told you so”?
While the presence of Brett Favre is a sad thing, to take your frustrations out on Rodgers is ludicrous and irresponsible for a “true” Packers fan.

I put it to you, the TRUE Packers fan, stop those around you, who are drunk on the Favre Kool Aid, to stop this lunacy and keep your position on the pedestal above all other football fans. Don’t put a tarnish on the words
