Brett Favre has now officially faxed over his letter of reinstatement to the commissioners office. It’s likely that Favre will report to the Packers training camp on Thursday or Friday.

This has put Ted Thompson “on the clock” as far as working out any kind of a trade for Favre. If Thompson firmly believes that Favre is nothing more than a back-up to Aaron Rodgers, then he’ll either have to cut Matt Flynn or Brian Brohm by the end of camp and keep Favre as the #2 or cut Favre, which is more likely, allowing him to test the market for his services. If you cut Flynn or Brohm, you’d most certainly lose them to the waiver wire before they would clear to the Packers practice squad.
On one hand, getting cut would bode well towards Favre’s wishes to be able to deal on the open market for his rights, something that the Packers didn’t want to see happen.
On the other hand, that’ll mean that Favre’s missed an entire training camp with any prospective team that he could end up with.
The saga continues!
