You would certainly hope that Brett Favre and the Packers can come to some sort of amicable, and dignified, parting of the ways this week. Why? Because the Brewers play 4 against the Cardinals (starting tonight) in St. Louis and 4 against the Central Division leading Cubs here at
Miller
Park (to begin next week) and I would much rather talk about the Brewers hopeful ascent to the top of the division rather than Brett’s whining ways.

A quick Brett note, you know it’s funny, Brett would never attend award events or participate in Pro Bowls when he was playing, even at the urging of the Packers organization, but now, his face is everywhere…hmmmm…wonder why?
Back to the Brewers!
Over the weekend, the Brewers made yet another move to bolster them as they prepare for the stretch run towards the post-season. The acquisition of second baseman, Ray Durham, signifies that the Brewers aren’t happy with their current lead-off man, Ricky Weeks…no matter what Ned Yost says. “Rickie’s doing fine. I’ll play Ray a couple of days a week, maybe. We’ll see how it goes.” Yost declared about the addition of
Durham . Rickie's doing fine, are you kidding me Ned??
Let me say this, you’ve got one guy who’s a lifetime .277 hitter who’s hitting .293 this season with an on base percentage of .385 vs. a player who’s struggling mightily with a .216 batting average and a .326 on base percentage. What’s there to think about?

A veteran glove in
Durham vs. a younger, sometimes erratic glove and arm in Weeks, there’s nothing to compare, Weeks has had 310 at bats to prove himself, he hasn’t, he sits! If you continue to play him, you’re shortchanging the fans that are paying the money to come and see you. You’ve now got a legitimate shot at a post-season and you’re worried about Rickie’s feelings? It’s time for Rickie to learn a life lesson, you don’t produce in the big leagues, you sit! Period!
I can defend some of Ned’s pitching changes, I can defend some of the public comments that seem condescending towards the fans and the media but I can NOT, and will NOT defend the sitting of a more quality everyday player for the feelings of another. If you’re Ned, how can you look your other players in the eyes and tell them that you’re serious about winning when you’re allowing an inept player to keep his spot, not only in the starting line-up but in the lead off position as well?
Defending Ned Yost is becoming more and more difficult with each passing word out of his mouth.
