Thinking This Morning......

By Bill Michaels

Since we last spoke, listened, read, whatever your medium for information happens to be, there’s a few things that have taken place that I feel a need to address.

First of all, last night, Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics) got into a scuffle with Zaza Pachulia (Atlanta Hawks) during game 4 of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Garnett threw an elbow at Pachulia, that missed but, Zaza took exception to it and got in to Garnett’s face.  After the scuffle began NBA official, Ed Rush, tried to restrain Garnett from becoming more involved in the skirmish.  Garnett then proceeded to shove Rush away, rather forcefully.

Garnett clearly knew it was an official that was trying to restrain him therefore, Garnett SHOULD be suspended for at least one game.  I’m a huge KG fan but his actions crossed the line.  It wasn’t as if Garnett was in the midst of a threatening brawl where his well being was in doubt.  He was away from the center of the fury and took it upon himself to toss an official aside, that should equal some "down-time" for the Celtics centerpiece.

Roger Clemens….what can I say about the Rocket?

If he would have just admitted his steroid use, like his pal Andy Pettitte did, this firestorm would have subsided by now.

Clemens screamed from the mountain tops that he was completely innocent from the very beginning and that everyone else is a liar or has misinterpreted his verbage.  He was politicking on Capital Hill as if he were trying to swing votes for a pork-filled energy bill that wasn’t about to pass without some backdoor antics.  Clemens hitched his wagon to Jose Conseco and his sworn affidavit regarding a backyard party, that Clemens supposedly didn’t attend, only to admit that he was there but wasn’t "really" there.  Clemens then claimed that Pettitte was mistaken when it came to a conversation about injecting steroids and HGH.  Clemens claimed that it wasn’t steroids but rather a B12 shot that McNamee injected into his butt.

Congress then recommends to the FBI to proceed with an investigation into Clemens to see, for sure, if he lied during the congressional hearings.  Committee members blatantly pronounce that they simply didn’t believe Clemens’ testimony.  Clemens, so distraught by these character attacks, proceeded to file a defamation suit against his former trainer not realizing that McNamee has attorneys as well and they’re going to dig into the Rocket’s past….quid pro quo ya know!  In doing so, McNamee’s investigators discover a 10 year relationship between Clemens and, country singer, Mindy McCready.

McNamee’s attorney’s call it an “affair” between Clemens and McCready.  Clemens admits befriending the singer when she was 15 but vehemently denies anything sexual, as McNamee’s attorneys have suggested.  A statement by McCready comes out, "I cannot refute anything in the story”.  Again, Clemens looks like a complete liar.  McCready was reportedly seen in bars with Clemens when she was underage.  She spent time with Clemens in his Toronto apartment and has traveled with him on his private plane.  Question; if McCready is such a good family friend, how come she's never met Clemens wife, as reported by the New York Daily News?

Message to the Rocket, you’re now looking pathetic.  You appear before us like a drug addict who claims to have quit doing coke but white powder covers your nose.  You try to explain it away as powdered sugar from a donut only to shove the residue up your nostrils and sniff deeply.  After a hiccup or two, you then say, “see….just powdered sugar”.  Roger, either prove your innocent with some concrete proof or just shut up, drop the defamation suit and go away. Get yourself out of the spotlight and disappear for a while.  If you decide to jump back into the limelight, admit what you did and move on.  It’ll be better for you and your family.

Do you agree with the long term contract that the Brewers gave to Ryan Braun?

  • YES, it's a WIN WIN for both
  • NO, 8 years is too long
