Watch the wideouts. Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and James Jones should have a field day against the injury-plagued and depleted Lions secondary. Look for a lot of four and five-wide sets.
Fear playmakers, not the QB. There's no reason to fear Lions QB Dan Orlovsky. Calvin Johnson would be dangerous, if someone could get him the ball. You do fear Kevin Smith running wild on that leaky Packers run defense, and controlling the clock to keep Detroit hanging around.

Green Bay 30, Detroit 17. I think It will be uncomfortably close, until the Packers get a late or even cheap TD and give a late Christmas gift. Merry Christmas, Packers fans!

Give the Lions no hope. An early lead, and a sizable one, will zpa any type of pre-game swagger the Lions may have drummed up for the game.
Be ready for anything. Fake punts, on-side kicks, going for it on 4th and 3 from the 30 yard line, whatever. The Lions will likely do anything possible to stay out of the record books. If the Packers aren't ready for it, they will be beat.
Green Bay 31, Detroit 20. Is it bad that the only reason I think the Packers win this game is because they're playing at home? Oh well, whatever.

More Ryan Grant. Grant took some criticism last week from Mike McCarthy for his inability to break free in the second level of defenses. I'd expect Grant to have a big day. However, Aaron Rodgers is 270 yards away from a 4,000 yard season, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Mike McCarthy get the ball in the air more, if Rodgers is "on his game."

Lions will feature Smith. One bright spot for the Lions has been their running back, Kevin Smith. With Smith coming off a 24-carry, 111-yard performance against the Saints, you can bet he'll get more than his fair share of carries. With conditions not conducive to throwing the ball to WR Calvin Johnson, it'll be Smith who will provide the oomph the Lions need against an underperforming Packers run defense.
Green Bay 27, Detroit 17. While the Lions want to avoid the embarassment of a winless season, the Packers will have more desire NOT to be the footnote of NFL history that allowed the Lions to get their first and ONLY win.

End the game before halftime. That means get a three-or-four score lead before the teams head to the locker room. That's a very possible scenario, as the Lions have had a few games go that way, and considering the Packers' receiving arsenal and the Lions' JV-level secondary, Aaron Rodgers could get 250 yards and three TD throws by the half.

Play base and don't be discouraged if they get a trick play. Just like my colleagues, I believe Detroit will throw the kitchen sink, the refrigerator (not William Perry, though in his football-age elderly state, he could possibly start at fullback for the Lions) and all the cabinets in the kitchen at the Packers when it comes to trick and crazy plays. They'll probably hit one.
Green Bay 31, Detroit 14. The Lions won't mail in this game. Rod Marinelli does have his guys play hard - until they get 14 points behind and too discouraged to come back. That will happen by the end of the first stanza in this sorry chapter in Detroit sports history.

Show up. The Winnebago JV and Pee-Wee Rec League All Stars could probably chalk up 200 yards against the Lions. (OK, slight embellishment.) Still, an offense like the Packers should have no issue moving the ball.
Get some pressure. I think the Lions are starting a hot dog vendor at quarterback these days, so just rushing the quarterback should be enough to crack the Lions.
Green Bay 30, Detroit 10. History is not on the Lions side (they haven't won in Green Bay since 1991), and Barry Sanders is not walking through the door anytime soon. Plus, the Packers decided not to quit on the season, which means 0-16 for Detroit.
