• Llama Laments: Turns Out James Is Walking Through That Door

Dominic James' Marquette career may get that happy ending after all. The university accounced this morning that the senior point-guard has been cleared to play in Marquette's (25-9) second-round NCAA tournament contest against Missouri (29-6).

James suffered what was believed to be a season ending injury on Feb. 25 in a game against Connecticut. James broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot about four minutes into the game and the recovery time was scheduled to be three months. James had surgery to repair the injury on Feb. 27 and had been seen on crutches as recently as last Sunday. According to a report by the Journal-Sentinel's Marquette basketball beat writer, Todd Rosiak, James had not been feeling any pain recently and after going through a series of tests and praticing with the team on Saturday, he was medically cleared to play.

"I don't know how much he'll be able to contribute," head coach Buzz Williams said in a statement released by the team. "The thing that I'm excited about is we're going to give him an opportunity to close out his career in the best way he possibly could. And I think the recovery has been due in large part to his work, but also because of the wisdom of [athletic trainer] Ernest (Eugene) and Dr. (Darrin) Maccoux."

Marquette went 2-5 without its floor general including a four-game losing streak to close out the regular season. Marquette returns a key player who not only averages 11.4 points per game and 5.1 assists but also is one of its best on the ball defenders. Rosiak reports that it is unknown if James will start or exactly how many minutes he will play.
