The Milwaukee Bucks announced that Michael Redd will miss the remainder of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee. Redd suffered the injury in the third quarter of Milwaukee's 106-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings last night. “I’m deeply disappointed but everything in life happens for a reason and this is God’s plan for me,” Redd said in a statement issued by the team. The injury happened when Redd went up for a layup midway through the third quarter and landed on point guard Luke Ridnour's foot. Redd said at that point his knee twisted and he was immediately in pain. An MRI done today revealed the extent of the injury. Redd will require surgery but the team said that date has to be scheduled. This will not be the first time this season the Bucks will have to go without the services of Redd. He missed 14 games earlier in the season with an ankle injury. The Bucks only won five games during that time. "Over half our games have been without two of our main players," Skiles said. "Our guys are hanging in there. It's not always pretty every night but we're hanging in there." Redd averaged a team-high 21.2 points in 33 games this season. |
