GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Jim Haslett is out of the running for the St. Louis Rams head coaching position, making him available to the Green Bay Packers if coach Mike McCarthy picks him as defensive coordinator.

Haslett was one of five finalists for Rams coach, but has been informed he's out of the running.

McCarthy's other interviews have landed elsewhere. Mike Nolan joined Denver this week. Gregg Williams signed with New Orleans yesterday.

Haslett has experience as an NFL defensive coordinator and has a history with McCarthy. He's been a defensive coordinator with St. Louis, Pittsburgh and New Orleans -- plus was the Saints

head coach from 2000-05.

McCarthy was Haslett

s offensive coordinator for five years (2000-04) with the Saints.
