"CC has been beyond anybody's expectations, beyond what anybody could have ever imagined," Braun felt.  "In my opinion by far the best player in baseball."

No pitching performance in more than a quarter of a century of Brewers baseball was ever bigger, more important and more celebratory than the one-run complete game that CC Sabathia delivered in the Brewers' 3-1 win.

No one ever had a bigger home run, dare I say, in team history, than Braun's 2-run blast to left that sent all of Milwaukee into delirium.

Those plays were the reason.

Thank you, Doug Melvin. Thank you, Mark Attanasio. Thank you for pulling the trigger on both those moves.

Thank you, Ned Yost, for trying your best for 150 games this season. Thank you, Dale Sveum, for succeeding in the last 12 games, putting the pieces together to make this team a playoff squad.

Of course, we could go on about the fact that Braun's permanency in Milwaukee is much steadier, and much more probable, than Sabathia's.

But we won't belabor the point.

Congrats, Milwaukee. Your Brewers guaranteed that I have happy adult memories of the Brewers; not just my 1982 World Series memories as a six-year-old.

Thank you Ryan, thank you CC, or "Chilled Champagne Sabathia."

Thanks for letting us all break the champagne glasses out ourselves to mix with the beer flowing.
