The Centers

Player Vitals Synopsis
#63 Scott Wells
Scott Wells. | Photo: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
6' 2" 303 lbs.
5th Year
Tennessee
Not a good sign that he's probably going to miss Monday night's game against the Vikings with a lower back injury.  He's had a lengthy hospital record as part of the Packers.  I love, though, how he's perceived as undersized, and when he's healthy, I trust him as much as any center in the division not named Olin Kreutz.
#72 Jason Spitz

6' 3" 302 lbs.
3rd Year
Louisville
The backup to Scott Wells at center and the probable starter for Monday night against Minnesota.  His flexibility could be critical throughout the 2008 campaign on a line that will more often than not be thin.

The Guards

Player Vitals Synopsis
#73 Daryn Colledge
Donald Driver. | Photo: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
6' 4" 308 lbs.
3rd Year
Boise State
Oh, do we love his versatility.  Oh, do we not love his history of shakiness at guard.  3 1/2 sackes allowed in 13 games last year doesn't bode well against a division filled with great defensive tackles.  The coaching staff may not want to start him at left guard, but they may have no choice thanks to Scott Wells' injury.
#72 Jason Spitz

6' 3" 302 lbs.
3rd Year
Louisville
Spitz must feel like the hat in the hidden ball trick, being shifted all around three positions on the interior offensive line.  The more comfortable he feels at every position, the more valuable he becomes to Green Bay.  He'll start somewhere in nearly every game this year.
#75 Tony Moll
6' 5" 306 lbs.
3rd Year
Nevada
Does it feel like Moll will start Monday by default because of youth, injury and inexperience on the line?  As sad as that is for Aaron Rodgers' backside, it could be perceived as a welcome invitation for any defensive tackle who plops him there.  Vikings fans, salivate.  (Tony, if you're reading, I would be overjoyed if you prove me wrong.)
#78 Allen Barbre
6' 4" 306 lbs.
2nd Year
Missouri Southern State
He's been great in practice driving linebackers off the ball, and Coach McCarthy gave him a rave review after the third preseason game.  He has something to greatly prove after a year learning.
#71 Josh Sitton

6' 3"  317 lbs.
Rookie
Central Florida
Inconsistent in preseason, as a rookie expects to be, but in a line that will probably run seven-deep on Monday night, he may be asked to do a lot against the arguably the world's best combo of defensive tackles.

The Tackles

Player Vitals Synopsis
#76 Chad Clifton
Chad Clifton. | Photo: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
6' 5" 320 lbs.
9th Year
Tennessee
Fighting injury bugs after leaving early week practices for treatment, but the guy is dependable, squishing most right defensive ends like bugs and keeping Brett Favre unsquished.  Aaron Rodgers would love the same end result from ends not touching his backside.
#65 Mark Tauscher

6' 3" 316 lbs.
9th Year
Wisconsin
People don't respect this guy as they should.  He is just on the cusp of being a Pro Bowler on a regular basis.  Rodgers will have to trust him as much as anyone in this transitional year behind the line.
#73 Daryn Colledge
James Jones Photo: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
6' 4" 308 lbs.
3rd Year
Boise State
This is Colledge's more normal position, and he's proven to do well here in the last couple years.  If only the Packers had more riches at guard than tackle, for that would help Daryn's cause.
#75 Tony Moll
6' 5" 306 lbs.
3rd Year
Nevada
Again, versatility proves to be his strength, as it is with much of the line, but a jack of all offensive line trades tends to mean a mastery of none.
#68 Breno Giacomini

6' 7"  311 lbs.
Rookie
Louisville
Project.  Project.  (Clap, clap. clap clap clap.)  But you like the thought of that kind of size and movement protecting future Packers QB's backsides once Clifton and Tauscher say bye-bye in the next few years.  (We don't want that to happen, mind you.)
