Top 9th

3:45 p.m.  3 Out
Torres vs. Stairs: (in whiniest voice possible) pretty please with sugar, nuts and cherries on top, end this game once and for all, pretty please?  With the lead run at bat...THANK YOU!!!!   Swing-and-a-miss strikeout.

3:41 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st
Torres vs. Rod Barajas (pinch hitter): pretty pretty please with sugar on top, end this one, pretty please??  Bouncer up middle, and Counsell's tough throw can't get there on time.  Infield single, and a pinch runner comes in, John McDonald.

3:39 p.m.  2 Out
Yost pulls Salomon Torres out of the mound for Riske.  If they blow this one after Bush's amazing performance, the entire bullpen might deserve to get called down to the rookie league!

3:36 p.m.  2 Out
Milwaukee 8, Toronto 7
Riske vs. Inglett: End this drama, will ya?  Fly b all to right center and this one's a one-run game, folks.  BIG TIME UGH.

3:33 p.m.  2 Out, bases loaded
Riske (back off 15-day DL) vs. Eckstein: another walk...ugh.

3:29 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st and 2nd
Dillard vs. Zaun: 35,000+ watch him walk Zaun and now Yost comes and pulls out Dillard.  Not paying attention to the pitch count, but why didn't he keep Bush in for a complete game?  Riske coming in.

3:27 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st
Dillard vs. Rios: liner past Fielder to right for a base hit.  For the record, Powell mentioned the no-no before I did online, but if you "believe what you don't understand, then you suffer."

3:26 p.m.  2 Out
Milwaukee 8, Toronto 3
Dillard vs. Overbay: with a few "O's" being chanted, long fly to center, Kapler runs back again and can't get this one.  Homer for "O," the guy who broke up the no-no.

3:25 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Dillard vs. Wells: easy out at 3rd.

3:23 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Dillard vs. Rolen: broken-bat out at 2nd

3:21 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Tim Dillard (in for Bush) vs. Matt Stairs: smash to right for a base hit.

Bottom 8th

3:18 p.m.  3 Out
Ryan vs. Joe Dillon (for Braun): bouncer to 2nd, Inglett tipped it from his glove to his bare hand and barely threw out Dillon.

3:17 p.m.  2 Out
Ryan vs. Hardy: hard shot to 2nd, Inglett takes care of J.J.

3:16 p.m.  1 Out
B.J. Ryan (new pitcher) vs. Counsell: pop fly to left, and Stairs underneath for out one.

Top 8th

3:11 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. pinch-hitter Brad Wilkerson: swing-and-a-miss strikeout on what's probably his last pitch of the game.

3:09 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 2nd and 3rd
Bush vs. Joel Englett: bouncer on a tough hop to Fielder, but no problem.

3:08 p.m.  1 Out, runner on 1st and 2nd
Bush vs. Eckstein: Bush hits him in the arm...Yost worried?

3:07 p.m.  1 Out, runner on 1st
Bush vs. Zaun: Branyan takes an easy pop-up.  David Riske warming up.

3:06 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Milwaukee 8, Toronto 1
Bush vs. Rios: base hit to left, now the shutout ends.

3:04 p.m.  Runner on 3rd
Bush vs. Overbay: no-hitter over...Braun couldn't reach a diving attempt at a liner to left.  Standing o for Dave again.

Bottom 7th

3:03 p.m.  3 Out
Talett vs. Bush: a big K.  Can he do that to Blue Jays batters six more times?

3:00 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st and 2nd
Talett vs. Kendall: a routine grounder Bucknered for an error.  Dave Bush comes up to bat for a standing O.

2:58 p.m.  2 Out
Talett vs. Kapler: swing and a miss for strike three.

2:56 p.m.  1 Out, runner on 1st
Tallet vs. Branyan: a long fly to left where Wells flags it down.

2:55 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Tallet vs. Hart: base hit to right field.

Top 7th

2:52 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Wells: pop-up playable for Branyan...grabs it.  6 outs to go.

2:50 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Rolen: long fly to center, Kapler has it and makes a great running catch, running into the wall.  7 outs to go.

2:48 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Stairs: hit in air to left center...Kapler with a weird run underneath, but he spots it.  8 to go for a no-no.

Bottom 6th

2:45 p.m.  3 Out
Tallet vs. Fielder: a fly ball produces an out to center.  Turn up the nervousness again.

2:43 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st
Tallet vs. Braun: a good eye produces a walk.

2:42 p.m.  2 Out
Tallet vs. Hardy: a 5-4-3 double play...ugh.

2:40 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Brian Tallet (for Burnett) vs. Counsell: he draws a leadoff walk.  Notice how the tension drops when the Brew Crew is at bat.

Top 6th

2:38 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Scutaro: one-bouncer to Counsell and he gets Scutaro.  No hitter through 6.

2:37 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st
Bush vs. pinch hitter Joe Inglett: slow bouncer to Counsell for the out at 2nd, another fielder's choice.

2:36 p.m.  1 Out, runner on 1st
Bush vs. Eckstein: bounces and Counsell produces a fielder's choice at 2nd.

2:33 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Bush vs. Zaun: there goes the perfect game with a walk, but there's still a no hitter.

Bottom 5th

2:29 p.m.  3 Out
Burnett vs. Mr. So-Far-Perfect: bouncer to Burnett to end the inning.

2:28 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 2nd
Milwaukee 8, Toronto 0
Burnett vs. Kendall: log fly to center over Vernon Wells' head, and Kapler scores on a Kendall double.

2:26 p.m.  2 Out. runner on 1st
Burnett vs. Kapler: his second broken-bat of the day turns into a force at 2nd.

2:25 p.m.  1 Out, runner on 1st
Burnett vs. Branyan: a low and inside pitch puts Branyan on base with a walk.

2:24 p.m.  1 Out
Burnett vs. Hart: a swinging strike while Fielder recovers and laughs in the dugout about his strange inside-the-parker.

2:21 p.m.  0 Out
Milwaukee 7, Toronto 0
Bush vs. Fielder: He ran clear around the bases around a ball that rattled around the right field corner.  Fielder slowed up going to 2nd, then booked it around the rest of the bases.  There was no throw from right field as the ball got stuck below the wall.  Alex Rios never made an effort and thought it was a ground rule double, but he could have made the play.  The weirdest inside-the-park home run you'll ever see.

Top 5th

2:18 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Rios: bouncer to 3rd, Branyan has it - no prob.  15 straight.

2:17 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Overbay: high fly down the left field line and Braun has it easy.  14 in a row, more than halfway to history.

2:16 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Wells: bounced to short for an easy out for Hardy.

Bottom 4th

2:13 p.m.  3 Out
Burnett vs. Braun: a swinging strike three.  The only 1-2-3 inning so far for Burnett.

2:12 p.m.  2 Out
Burnett vs. Hardy: shallow center-field pop-up, and Wells comes in from deep center to take it.

2:10 p.m.  1 Out
Burnett vs. Counsell: the payoff becomes strike three called, though he though he was inside.

Top 4th

2:07 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Rolen: lazy fly ball and Braun takes it 20 feet from the wall.  12 straight.  Powell called Bush "perfect so far."  If he doesn't throw a perfect game, it's not Powell's fault, people!

2:06 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Stairs: roller to Bush, and Bush takes it without a problem for the second out.

2:02 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Scutaro: shallow left field fly ball that makes Braun double back and take it in.

Bottom 3rd

1:59 p.m.  3 Out
Burnett vs. Bush: he ends my cousin's chances with a bouncer to 2nd.  Do you not respect family, Bushie?

1:58 p.m.  2 Out
Burnett vs. Kendall: short liner to 2nd and Scutaro snags it.  Come on, Bushie...keep it alive for cous!

1:57 p.m.  1 Out
Burnett vs. Kapler: a bouncer to short for the first out.  My cous is still alive, but a third of the way out in the contest.  BTW: WEBB'S RUN!!!!  (After Branyan shot.)

1:53 p.m.  0 Out
Milwaukee 6, Toronto 0
Burnett vs. Branyan: not as speedy, and "Russell the Muscle" took a 3-0 ball that made Burnett pinch his fingers as if to say "it was this close," but the ump puts his hands farther apart to say, uh-uh, A.J.  Finally...a LONG BOMB!!!  His 10th homer in 61 at bats...unconscious is right, Jim Powell!!

1:51 p.m.  Runner on 1st and 2nd
Burnett vs. Hart: he's a candidate for a triple anytime with his speed, but he also gets a walk.

1:47 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Burnett vs. Fielder: c'mon, Prince, I think my cousin is in the three-bagger in the third contest.  Let's see...Prince isn't exactly the fastest on the planet (neither am I, for that matter).  What's he do?  Walk.  No big prize for cous, but a good sign.

Top 3rd

1:44 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Burnett: slow bouncer to 2nd...nine up, nine down for Bush.

1:44 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. David Eckstein: broken-bat grounder to Fielder who gives to Bush for the out.

1:40 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Greg Zaun: a swing-and-a-miss strike three with a beauty of a change-up.

Bottom 2nd

1:39 p.m.  3 Out
Burnett vs. Braun: borrowing Joe Dillon's bat, a whiff whild pitch throw-em-out strikeout ends the rally.

1:37 p.m.  2 Out, runners on 2nd and 3rd
Milwaukee 3, Toronto 0

Burnett vs. Hardy: half of Wisconsin women's future husband smashes a fair ball down the left field line for a double that scores Kendall.

1:34 p.m.  2 Out, runners on 1st and 2nd
Burnett vs. Counsell: good eye on a payoff pitch to draw a walk.

1:34 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 2nd
Burnett vs. Dave Bush: a bunt sacrifice gets Kendall to 2nd.

1:33 p.m.  1 Out, runner on 1st
Burnett vs. Jason Kendall: bounding ball to left field for a base hit.

1:30 p.m.  1 Out
Burnett vs. Gabe Kapler: after a foul ball caused his Maple bat to break (just don't like the ping of those College World Series games), it's a long fly to center which turned into an easy out.

Top 2nd

1:27 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Alex Rios: while Uecker tells honest fish stories (the fishing wasn't great this morning), he pops up to Craig Counsell right by the second base bag.

1:25 p.m.  2 Out
Bush vs. Lyle Overbay: slow bouncer to Bush who overhands to Fielder for an easy out.

1:23 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Vernon Wells: Long fly to center, but Gabe Kapler runs it down about 10 feet from the wall.

Bottom 1st

1:20 p.m.  3 Out
Burnett vs. Russell Branyan: we have a prediction!  Producer Armen says Branyan's going yard here.  I'm not going to Vegas with him.  A swinging K.

1:19 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 3rd
Milwaukee 2, Toronto 0
Burnett vs. Corey Hart: a one-bouncer to the center field wall: Braun scores and Fielder scores all the way from first thanks to an errant throw.  Perfect throw might have gotten him, or at least caused a football-like collision.

1:16 p.m.  2 Out, runners on 1st and 2nd
Burnett vs. Prince Fielder: line drive base hit for Fielder to left...2 out rally we smell, along with secret stadium sauce?

1:15 p.m.  2 Out, runner on 1st
Burnett vs. Ryan Braun: smashed up the middle, just past Burnett, for the first base hit of the game.

1:14 p.m.  2 Out
Burnett vs. J.J. Hardy: jammed on the pitch for a one hopper, and Eckstein keeps busy.  Brewers batters must like to hit to short infielders.

1:12 p.m.  1 Out
Burnett vs. Craig Counsell: swing and a pop up and David Eckstein uses his dramatic height advantage (tongue firmly in cheek) to take it in for the first out.

Top 1st

1:10 p.m.  3 Out
Bush vs. Rolen: fly easy to left field for Braun to take in.

1:08 p.m.  2 Out
Former Blue Jay Bush vs. former Brewer Matt Stairs: a playable fly to right where Corey Hart takes four steps to the left and catches it.

1:06 p.m.  1 Out
Bush vs. Marco Scutaro (Ueck called him Marcus): popped up and Fielder takes it on the first base line.  Scutaro had to run outside the baseline or get decked like Chuck Cecil attacking a Bears wideout back in the 80's.

1:06 p.m.
Interesting that the dark tones dominate on a somewhat hot day in Milwaukee: the Brew Crew in navy, the Jays in black.

1:03 p.m.  Pregame
Awesome!  TV is showing the Yogi Berra AFLAC commercial!  I'm easily amused, I guess.

12:42 p.m.  Update
Craig Counsell will hit first and play 2nd base for Bill Hall, while Gabe Kapler takes the seven spot in the lineup and center field for Mike Cameron.  Days off for Hall and Cameron.

12:33 p.m.  Preview
Bring out the broom time...or is it?  Dave Bush on the mound is never a recipe for a guaranteed sweep, and he's facing A.J. Burnett.

Oh, and FYI: my name is Jay.  My favorite color is blue.  But I'm not a Blue Jays fan.  Capeesh?
