Report: Bucks Offer Job to Skiles

By By Jay Sorgi

A newspaper report says the Bucks have offered their coaching job to former Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns head man Scott Skiles.

A league source tells the Journal Sentinel that the Bucks have given Skiles "an offer he can't refuse," but the report doesn't give specifics on that offer.

Skiles played with the Bucks for 13 games of the 1986-87 season, nearly retiring with a neck injury beore playing for 10 years with Indiana, Orlando, Philadelphia and Washington.

He has a 281-251 coaching record in his eight-year tenure as a head coach. He's delivered five teams to the NBA playoffs.

On Dec. 24, 2007, the Chicago Bulls fired Skiles after coaching them to a 9-16 record to start the current season.

Skiles seems to be the Bucks choice among a possible pool of coaches including former NBA championship coach Larry Brown, Jeff Van Gundy, who has taken teams to the NBA Finals, Rick Carlisle and Jeff Van Gundy.

Bucks GM John Hammond, when asked about the reported offer to Skiles, said, "We will not discuss individual names of candidates at this time."
