By By Jay Sorgi

An athlete from Germantown has made the 2008 U.S. Paralympic team.

Becca Murray, who has spina bifida, finds herself with a ticket to Beijing this summer after qualifying for the U.S. women's basketball squad.

"Twelve years ago when she was looking for a sport to play and we found wheelchair basketball, I was just happy that she had some team to play on and now that it's led to this, it's amazing," said Linda, Becca's mother.

Becca plays locally with the Wheeling Wizards Junior League wheelchair basketball team, and she qualified for the Paralympic team in tryouts in Alabama.

Murray led the Wizards to a U.S. junior nationa title in 2007, and she joined the U.S. team that won the Parapan Games women's basketball tournament in Rio De Janerio.
