WIAA Girls Basketball Tourney

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Destinee Blue led the way with 20 points and 14 rebounds as defending champion Milwaukee Vincent advanced in the state girls high school basketball tournament in Madison.

Vincent scored the first 12 points of the game and then hung on for a 57-45 win over Middleton in the Division 1 quarterfinals yesterday.

Teri Stamps added 12 points for Vincent (20-3). JoLyn Owen led Middleton (20-4) with 12 points.

Vincent faces Verona (19-6) in the semifinals tonight.

Verona's Leslie Schaefer scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots in a 53-50 win over De Pere in the quarterfinals.

In the other semifinal, Brookfield Central (20-4) faces Oshkosh West (19-5).

Semifinals are also being played in the other divisions today.
