Murphy did say he's been actively involved in the situation and has been very supportive of the way Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy have handled it. Murphy told reporters, "we're all trying to do what's right, we want to be fair to Brett for what he's meant to the organization. But we also are looking out for the long term best interest of the organization." The Favre situation has nearly divided the state with some people strongly arguing the Packers need to bring Brett back. Still others believe the Packers should move on and let Aaron Rodgers start. Murphy noted that saying, "the one thing that I really appreciated was the passion of our fans." Asked about whether Favre has a team issued cell phone, Murphy said he couldn't comment. That question is at the center of reports about the Packers' tampering complaint to the league. Some reports indicate that Favre may have used a team issued cell phone to call Vikings Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevel. The Associated Press contributed to this report |
