Governor Declares Sunday Brett Favre Day

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Governor Jim Doyle has declared Sunday as Favre Record Day in Wisconsin.

The day is meant to honor the Green Bay Packer quarterback for breaking Dan Marino's career touchdown record last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Favre threw his 421st touchdown pass in that game, breaking Marino's record of 420.

Doyle has issued a statement praising Favre for his perseverance and his contributions to football and Wisconsin. The governor also wished Favre a happy 38th birthday on Wednesday.

The Packers play their archrival, the Chicago Bears, Sunday at Lambeau Field.
