Charter Communications and the Big Ten Network finally have their agreement to carry Wisconsin Badgers and other Big Ten sports events on its basic level of service.

"Charter is pleased that an agreement 'in principle'to offer the Big Ten Network to our customers has been reached," the organization said in a statement.

"We believe this agreement is in the best interests of all Charter customers and look forward to an exciting season of Big Ten sports. We will work closely with BTN to add the channel as soon as possible to our line-ups, hopefully in time for this Saturday's opening games."

A company spokesman says that after this year, Charter will re-consider the best option for the channel.

Earlier this week, Time Warner Cable came to an agreement with the Big ten Network, ending a long standoff between the companies.
