Brewers ace Ben Sheets was rolling along against the Dodgers Thursday afternoon at Miller Park. That's when the seventh inning came around. Andruw Jones led off the top of the inning with a homer to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. Things did not get any better from there. One batter later, Jeff Kent hit another solo shot to left field. James Loney followed with a triple to left then Russell Martin singled home Loney.
Luis Maza continued the Dodger fun with a single that moved to Martin to third base. Then former Brewers catcher Gary Bennett hit a three-run homer to left field off Sheets to finish off the scoring for the inning. That home run would chase Sheets (4-1) from the game.
"That was a lot of runs to give up in one inning," Sheets said. "I think I'm better than that and I don't think it will happen again but it happened today."

"Runs are like gold when you're talking about Ben Sheets cause he was pitching so well and so was Bills (Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley)," said Dodgers manager Joe Torre. "To get that three-run homer was huge."
Sheets ended up pitching 6 1/3 innings while giving up nine hits and six runs. He struck out five and walked none. The righty gave up just three hits in his first six innings of work. The Dodgers won the series with a 7-2 victory on Thursday.
"He was really cruising with complete control up to that point," said Brewers manager Ned Yost. "It just kinda snowballed on him."

Billingsley pitched seven solid innings as he gave up three hits and one run. The young right-hander improved to 3-5 on the year. The Brewers did not pick up their first hit of the game until the fifth inning when Sheets singled to center field. No Brewer had more than one hit in the game. Bennett, Martin and Juan Pierre each had two hits for the Dodgers.
"If you were a fan of baseball, it was a pretty good game to watch as far as both pitchers putting the ball where they wanted to," said Brewers catcher Jason Kendall. "He (Sheets) got a couple balls up, they took advantage, that's it."

After signing an eight-year extension with the Brewers earlier in the day, Ryan Braun hit his tenth home run of the season in the eighth inning.
"Tough series to lose but overall I think the homestand went alright," Braun said. "Above .500, played against two good teams. Got to continue to play better and find a way to win games."

The Brewers now hit the road for a ten-game road trip. The trip starts in Boston with Brewers starter Jeff Suppan (2-2, 4.63) facing Daisuke Matsuzaka (6-0, 2.45).
"I think we are looking forward to the challenge and we need to step up in games like that against good teams and good pitchers, " Braun said about the series with the Red Sox. "It should be a lot of fun. That's for sure."
Notes:
The Brewers purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Mark DiFelice from Triple-A Nashville to replace reliever David Riske on the roster. Riske was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a hyper-extended right elbow. Yost was optimistic after the game that Riske would ready to pitch after 15 days on the DL. Dodgers rookie third baseman Blake DeWitt was scratched from the lineup with lower back pain. "He's had a stiff back off and on for about a week, " Torre said. "He went out to stretch and get loose and it locked on him."
