OK, Prince, you complained about getting a rather minimum-like deal of $677,000 this spring training.
Now you see Ryan Braun getting mucho mongo moolah from Mark Attanasio.
Mr. Fielder, it's time to get yours, and pronto.
I agree, you've earned a big pay day, and if I were in your shoes, I'd be mighty peeved that I haven't signed the mongo deal and the Brewer across the infield has.
But don't hold it against Braunie Brewer. He, after all, has the best slugging percentage of a rookie in Major League history.
But you have the best home run total in Brewers history, and dongs should mean dollars.
I agree. Get your slimy agent Scott Boras on with Attanasio.
You should get yours.
But the fan base will have reason now to grumble a bit when you come up to plate after Ryan gets his standing O for the big deal.
Because you haven't agreed to it.
The longer you wait, the more those grumbles could become outright boo's.
They shouldn't, as Brewers fans have more class than the bar-hoppers who attend Wrigley Field or the cheese-steak set in Philadelphia.
But in crowds of 40,000-plus, a few idiots will probably remain, making cat-calls about your healthy eating choices.
Do you deserve that for going after the big bucks? No. But it will happen.
And as your manager will attest, more grumbling from fans in Milwaukee - whether fair or unfair - means more stress on the object of the grumblings, that object being you.
