Now I Am Confused About What Is Going On With FavreBy Todd WelterFirst, ESPN said Brett Favre has until the end of the week to make a decision on coming to Minnesota. Now they are changing course and saying that the Vikings have suspended their pursuit of Brett after he failed to show up to a team activity on Tuesday. This is beyond a head scratcher. This is just getting down right weird as to what is going on with this courtship and I am really starting to doubt the credibility coming out of Bristol, CT. First and foremost, Minnesota is not in a position to be pushing Brett around. They need him more than he needs the Vikings. Second, can we get some sort of consistency with this whole will he do the unthinkable and play for the Vikings or will he stay retired. Wouldn't Brett have to be under contract to participate in any team activities? So that would mean not only is the deadline story wrong but the Favre mouthpiece missed the boat completely. With how weird this story keeps getting and how many twist and turns it takes, I am actually beginning to think this will not happen--until July. Again, Brett has made it clear he hates minicamps and OTA's so he will do whatever he can to avoid being in attendence. You have to got to be on some serious drugs if you think Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson are Super Bowl caliber quarterbacks so do not think Minnesota is done wooing Brett. Either way, with how bad the Vikings have been going about this courtship, you probably do not have to worry about the Vikings being a threat for a Lombardi Trophy destination. My guess is either Brett comes back and again breaks down the stretch thus allowing the Packers or Bears to take the division or the Vikings locker room quits on Brad Childress for the bumbling fool that he is. |
