I got some very depressed people at Miller Park texting me with some complaints about Jeff Suppan. The only one I can print that does not involve profanity is "what is wrong with Soup." My only response is it is not 2006 and he is not wearing a Cardinals' uniform.
Really the major reason this team is back in another black hole is that the plate discipline that was there yesterday is nowhere to be found. Joe Blanton threw 11 pitches alone in the third inning. Jamie Moyer threw 11 pitches alone to at least two hitters yesterday. Although the key difference right now is Blanton is throwing strikes. Blanton has thrown 47 pitches with 31 going for strikes as I write this through three innings. Still, the game plan has to remain the same, stay disciplined, wait for your pitch, foul off pitches to get that pitch count up. Instead, we are getting the lineup we saw in the first two games and we all know how bad that worked out.
