Through Three and Half Innings

By Todd Welter

Quick thoughts after the Brewers are down 5-1 through three and half innings in game two...

-The only thing in this world that can probably sympathize with CC Sabathia right now is Big Brown.  Both gave everything for a championship and both collapsed in what could have been their biggest moment (well, I will hold out hope that this may not be CC's last time on the mound).

-Unless Dave Bush can channel his inner Don Sutton on Saturday, this series was lost on the walk to Brett Myers.

-Who would have thought the biggest injury of the year would be Gabe Kapler going down.  Corey Hart just looks lost out there.  It seems like he is terrified to be in a clutch situation.  There is just no confidence in his eyes when he is up there.  I think a deer in headlights might have a better chance of getting a RBI right now.  Which is probably the only thing that can sympathize with Hart right now.

-Still plenty of baseball left in this one, but the question keeps creeping into my head:  Are the Brewers good enough to be in October or were they just better at beating the bottom feeders than the rest of the contending pack?  The Brewers proved they owned the Astros, D-backs and Cardinals but were owned by the Marlins, Phillies, Dodgers, and the Mets (I will not forget they did wrestle the Cubs to a draw).  I just said the question is creeping into my head, I am not asking it yet.
