How Patient Were The Crew?

By Todd Welter

The Brewers were so patient at the plate that Jamie Moyer averaged five pitches per at bat compared to the four pitches per at bat Cole Hamels and Brett Myers both threw in Games 1 & 2.  Against Moyer, the Brewers had five at-bats were Moyer threw only three pitches or less (Moyer faced 18 hitters).  Moyer and Clay Condrey combined to throw 116 pitches through five innings (just going off what would make the stats official) and 50 of those pitches were balls.  That is 43% of their pitches going for balls.  Compared to Cole Hamels and Brett Myers, who combined to throw 195 pitches through 15 innings.  They threw 72 balls combined (37%) and averaged just four pitches per at bat.  So the Brewers are definitely showing much more discipline in this one than they did in the first two of this series.
