It's "Wagner's Rule of Life #4": "The universe has a way of evening things out"!  Or as they say about karma on the NBC television series "My Name is Earl", "Do good things and good things will happen.  Do bad things and it will come back and bite you in the ... [butt]".

     Don't believe me?  Just ask Brandon Feezor.

     Feezor is the 24-year-old West Allis man who was beaten up by two Chicago Cubs fans after a game last week.  According to the criminal complaint, Feezor got into a verbal altercation with a bus full of Cubs fans as he was walking through the parking lot at Miller Park. 

     At some point in the festivities, Feezor decided that it was a good idea for him to throw an empty can of Red Bull energy drink at the bus.  Three Cubs fans then disembarked and allegedly attacked Feezor, breaking his jaw.  Two men, Adam Michle and Jerry Emert have been charged with substantial battery (a felony) in connection with the incident.

     Given the extent of Feezor's injuries, the charging decision by the DA's Office is probably not unreasonable.  I'm told however that fights do occasionally occur at Miller Park and that criminal charges (much less felonies) are rarely, if ever, issued.  For this reason, don't be surprised that if there is a plea agreement, it will be to reduced charges.

     The irony in this case though is that the victim, Brandon Freezor, has been on the other side of more than his share of incidents over the last few years.

     For example, in September of 2004 Feezor found himself charged with substantial battery - which was subsequently pled down to misdemeanor battery. As a matter of fact, since late 2002, Feezor has found himself charged with various violations of the law including disorderly conduct, underage drinking, and possession of marijuana.

     His criminal record notwithstanding, it was certainly not acceptable for two guys from Chicago to beat up Feezor.  At the same time, you have to wonder what would have happened had Feezor been with two of his friends and had only one Cubs fan gotten off the bus?  

     Regardless, perhaps this incident will teach young Mr. Feezor a lesson about the ways of the universe.  Namely, if you go around getting involved in fights, sooner or later you're going to get your butt kicked.
