Those of us who do not have kids ourselves take great pride in the accomplishments of the children of our friends and relatives.
To that end, regular listeners have occasionally heard me talk about my former Nicolet High School debate partner, Evan and his son Dean. Despite living in the Washington, D.C. area, Evan has raised Dean to be an avid fan of both the Brewers and the Packers. As I've alluded to from time to time, Dean is also turning out to be an outstanding baseball player in his own right.
Dean, a left-handed pitcher with electric stuff, already has a no-hitter to his credit. Last week, he went 2 and 0 (including throwing a shutout) in helping his Arlington, Virginia All-Star team advance to the Southeast Regional Finals of the Senior Babe Ruth League (15 year olds).
I've already told some of my friends with the Brewers that they should start looking at Dean as a pitcher for the future. I personally think that he'd look great on the mound for Opening Day 2015.
A note to Doug Melvin though: Dean won't come cheap - so get that check book ready!
