Liar, Liar, Pantsuit On Fire

I know it's available elsewhere but if you haven't seen it yet, check out the CBS expose of Hillary Clinton's latest big lie.

In a major policy speech on Iraq last Monday, Hillary Clinton claimed to have landed in Bosnia in March of 1996 "under sniper fire".  She went on to claim that the greeting ceremony was cancelled and that "we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base".

The story, passionately told, was presumably intended to show that Hillary Clinton had been tested under fire - in contrast to Barack Obama.  The only problem with the tale is that it's a complete lie.

CBS News accompanied Clinton (along with her daughter Chelsea) on the trip.  Available film shows that the sniper story is - well --totally made up.  Actually, the only risk Hillary was exposed to during the trip came from potentially standing too close to Sheryl Crow (who performed for the troops) should a guitar string have broken.

The Clinton campaign is trying to shrug this incident off as an innocent misstatement.  Right.  And Bill Clinton "never had sexual relations with that woman".

Some people are surprised that Hillary would tell such an easily exposable lie.  They shouldn't be.  If there is anything we've learned about the Clintons over the years it's that there's no lie too big or too small for them to tell.

The chorus to Jimmy Buffett's song "A Semi-True Story" goes something like this:  "It's a semi-true story, believe it or not, I made up a few things - and there's some I forgot".

Landing under sniper fire doesn't strike me as something that one would forget.  Therefore, I can only conclude that Hillary simply made it up.

     Liar, liar, pantsuit on fire.
