Turning A Picture Inside Out

By Gene Mueller

They're up all over the Internets: photos of Brett Favre's injured ankle...

...and hamstring, taken after the Vikings loss to the Saints in the NFC Championship game last month....

They're supposedly taken by Favre's agent, Bus Cook, who then gave them to a Mississippi newspaper.     Bus, who is most famously known as the most clueless player representative in all of professional sports, isn't known for his ways with a shutter, either, but you've got to admit these are some pretty compelling shots.

They're also triggering a lot of praise for the ol' gunslinger on Facebook and Twitter...lots of stuff about Favre being a tough SOB and all that.     I have no argument with any of that.

Then came this, from a good friend who I often agree with on so many issues: "How anyone could cheer against him is beyond me."

I couldn't resist.     While I had no desire to see Favre pummeled that night, I sure as hell didn't want to see he and Minnesota make it to the Super Bowl.

       I had to fire back.

"It's not the purple on the inside," I said.   "It's the purple on the outside."

Sigh. Some day, maybe when you're older and wiser, you won't just blindly cheer the laundry.
