He got blasted by a New York Times columnist for doing it Sunday.

       And then, he did it again Monday night.

       The Times' Maureen Dowd called John McCain out for going to the well once too often in using his Hanoi POW experience to defend other behaviors.

       The ink was barely dry on the column when McCain did it again while sitting at Jay Leno's elbow on the "Tonight Show".

       Leno's site hasn't posted the video, but it came up on MSNBC's election coverage Monday night.      Watch the debate here.

         Is McCain overdoing it?      Has he gone to the POW well too often?      Does a past hardship--even one as severe as a five-year stint in a North Vietnamese prison camp--justify present behavior?
