...and, you don't have to worry about this becoming anything close to a fad...

...even though one of the Fresno State Bulldogs is sporting a mutation of the mullet called the "skullet" at this week's College World Series.
This is pitcher Kris Tomlinson on what we assume is a good hair day.

We'll never know from this picture, since he has his cap on. What happens when he doffs the chapeau?

Choice played a role in the creation of this do, but playing a larger part was Fresno State's unanticipated post-season success. The Fresno Bee fleshes in details about the origins of Tomlinson's tonsorial leanings..."A Rosenblatt Stadium employee shaved his head except a patch on his left side after telling Tomlinson he would if Fresno State made it to the CWS championship series. Tomlinson, the Fresno State reliever, has been letting teammate Holden Sprague cut more of his hair as the team advanced in postseason, and is now down to a patch in the back, which draws attention when he takes his hat off for the national anthem."
There's an entire website devoted to the skullet (I'm sure you're shocked) and here's the link (I'm positive you'll be repelled). Be forewarned: the language on said site is rough. Then again, I'm sure the pictures will keep your eyes from wandering anywhere near the text.
